Watering Question

  1. Hey I'm currently growing my first plant and for the first 2 weeks I had it in a small pot and only watered it when I put the germinated seed in the soil. But My plant is now about a month old and I moved it to a bigger pot (about 12" x 12") and it doesn't seem to hold water very good. When I water it it drys up in less than a day and I stick my finger in an inch and its dry. So I've been spraying water on the soil around the base of the plant and a little on the plant once or twice a day. I know a lot of plants die due to over watering so thats why I'm asking. How do you know if your watering too much or too little?

  2. the plant will tell you , search for overwatering & underwatering , im sure something'll pop up , im using coco and dont know if it applies to soil , but i water until i get some run-off from the drainage holes , also , what light are you using?

  3. The plant seems to react very well to the sprayed water but I just don't want it to suddenly die from overwatering. I'm using miracle grow soil (i know I shouldn't but its all I had available at the time) and 2 cfl 26w 6500k

  4. ^^agreed...When you water with soil you give enough to expect some dripage theough the drain holes in the bottom. Every few days should be alright. Err on the side of underwatering is my advice. As far as the lights go, you should really put more in there. You dont have much lumen. Good luck.
