Water won't stay in the perc

    So my friend has been trying to sell me this bong for awhile and is letting me test it out to see if I like it. It's a straight tube with a single dome perc and a really nice diffuser. This is my first bong with a perc and I just can't get the water to stay in there. It'll stay for a few seconds but if i suck the tube or tilt it it just drains down into the main chamber. Could there be a problem with this perc or is there just some trick that I don't know?

    Pictures would be your best bet. Are you saying absolutely no water stays in the perc? Are you sure it's not a splash guard?

    No it's defiantly a perc. If I fill it up and hit it right away the water stays in long enough for me to see it bubble while watching in a mirror. After 10 seconds all but maybe a milliliter of water has drained down into the main chamber.

    Some percs don't fill up until you put the downstem in the bong, idk if that helps that's how my friend's phire works.

    why not ask your friend what the deal is with the perc?

    this was my first guess.. with my bong unless you have the bottom fulled up to the defuser then the perc will just suck in all the water through the chamber...i would try to cover the down stem hole and try to put water and if it still runs down then it may be brokenz

    if your down stems not in itl will only fil to the bottom of the wholes. if thats ur problem put a downstem in. if the water falls out as soon as you suck and falls below the lines its broken bout as long as its above the wholes its perculating

    He told me the downstem trick and that keeps water in there for around 10 seconds before it all drains down. It was filthy before tried to sell it and he spent around 2 hours cleaning it with que tips and hot water. Dunno why he didn't just use iso and salt but I think he might of cracked it during the cleaning process because no matter what I do it just won't hold water.
