Water woes?

  1. Nearing the end of my first grow...there have been some problems but looks like it will be at least moderately successful:)
So...I was back and forth with PH/'s and PPM's as I learned more about them. Lack of test equipment, knowledge how/when to test, etc... It looks like my well water may well have been causing me some grow issues...it tests at 1100 PPM, give or take, which is pretty high from the sound of it. Water "in" was probably very high in PPM's most of the grow, before I started having troubles and investigating. Water's ph is usually about 7.
After battling some problems and buying testers to get the above numbers, a rapid test soil kit says my medium's ph is 7, runoff water is 1200-1400 PPM. I was not PH'ing the water as I went.
Is the high PPM in my water a problem, and if so, whats the lest expensive water "fix" for it?

  2. It really depends on whats in it and what issues you were having. Wit ha pH of 7 my guess is the well water is full of stuff possibly , like calcium deposits etc.. more basic minerals etc. My well water is actually the same way haha

Youll have to get it tested to see whats actually in it though.

  3. you can get a filter or if it a small grow you can just buy 5 gallons of spring water at a time i used to use only store bought water until i got a filter

  4. Holy crap, 1100ppm well water. Definitely something that needs addressed. Wow, never heard of it being that high. My tap city water is about 130ppm.

  5. How long does it take to filter 5 gallons? I may have to look into that, it would sure beat sclepping water.

  6. you should consider getting in an RO system for YOU and the plants, most is Calcium you can get a free lab test at most farmer govt agencies, and a R.O. system can be bought at trunk sales, used but with a new filter can be a bargain, or better just get ya water at Walmart at the vending machine, its RO and cheap

    good luck
