  1. This is an email that came from the Marijuana Policy Project. I know that we have a lot of artists in the City; get involved! :)

    Dear Friend:

Four brief announcements from the Marijuana Policy Project:

    1. Please tune into "The Montel Williams Show" on Tuesday, September
21, to hear Montel present a very personal argument for medical
marijuana. Montel, who himself uses marijuana to ease the pain of MS,
will talk with patients like Irv Rosenfeld -- who has been receiving
monthly supplies of medical marijuana from the federal government for
two decades -- and Angel Raich -- who won a historic court victory in
December, when the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals barred the DEA
from arresting or harassing her or her caregivers. (The U.S. Supreme
Court will hear the Bush administration's appeal of that case this
fall. The MPP grants program is providing much of the funding for this
    litigation.)

Former White House deputy drug czar Andrea Barthwell and I appear on
    the program as well.

Visit http://www.montelshow.com/misc/where_2_watch.htm to find out what time the show airs in your city and on what channel.

    2. MPP is one of 50 nonprofit groups that Working Assets will be
funding at the end of this year. Working Assets customers are
currently voting on how the funding will be distributed among the 50
groups. If Working Assets is your long distance telephone company,
please visit http://www.workingassets.com/voting to cast your vote for MPP.

    3. There are fewer than seven weeks until Election Day. With marijuana
initiatives on the ballot in three states and 19 cities, it's
important that supporters of marijuana policy reform turn out in large
numbers to vote. If you are not yet registered to vote, please visit
http://www.truedemocracy.com to register today. Registering takes less than one minute ... and, as the 2000 elections dramatically
illustrated, sometimes it only takes a handful of votes to make an
    enormous difference.

    4. If you or someone you know is a graphic designer who would like to
donate pro bono artwork for MPP to use in our upcoming online
advertisements and t-shirts, please e-mail art submissions to
volunteer@mpp.org. If your design is selected for use by MPP, you'll win a free ticket to one of MPP's upcoming 10th anniversary celebrity
galas in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. (They will be held in
February 2005; more details will be announced later.)

As always, thank you for your support of MPP.

    Sincerely,

    Rob Kampia
    Executive Director
    Marijuana Policy Project
    Washington, D.C.
