Opposing Views: Washington State Lawmakers Vote Down Marijuana Bills I really wish those backwards thinking old cunts just die already so we can get some progress around here. Damn. Fellow Washington state citizens, please plant some seeds in spring time so that our shit will take over and they'll have no choice but to go with it. Fuck politicians who don't know shit about cannabis.
Old news. Keep the hope up though, there is an initiative to the people out there that will begin collecting signatures on March 1 at the latest. If you live in WA and want to help get signatures go to this site and sign up letting them know. This is the organization that is sponsoring the initiative. Volunteer | Sensible Washington
Does anyone know if the people you get signatures from have to be registered voters for them to count towards the 240,000 or so we need to get the initiative on the ballot.
^^ yes, they do, and they have to be registered to vote in the state of Washington. I used to work at QFC, and the managers there let anyone collect signatures for petitions. The person collecting the signatures would ask everyone entering the store "are you a washington voter?"
correct However, anyone who is over 18 and a WA resident who wants to sign it you should encourage to register cause it is another vote for and we need to shoot for as many signatures as humanly possible cause you know they are gonna review everyone and try to throw it out so overshoot is key here. I love the sig too man, it is far too true.
I doubt that, though the attorney general and the secretary of state (the only state officials who would have anything to do with initatives) are both republicans, but still, that is alot of time to do that. Usually they review a sample, then accept it if the sample shows enough valid signatures. By law, they cannot reject a petition unless they check the entire signature pool. Also, the attorney general writes the text for initatives, so it will be interesting to see how someone who is likely against it writes the text. Also, im not contradicting what i said earlier about republicans being against legalization. In an earlier post I was simply stating it was wrong to assume they are all against it, but they do oppose it most of them.
