Warm White For flowering

  1. Will a warm white cfl help my plant to flower better than the cool whites that i used to grow it? This is my setup. How does it look?

  2. Nice lights, yes that is a cheap way to go, it will work but not give you a huge yeild... more light (lumes) bigger buds.

BTW: nice job with the foil. Ran out or... did you actullay figure out the light reflection needs?

  3. lol...yea, i just got lazy and recycled some old foil. I should probably just take it down and put up some new stuff

  4. go to the dollar store near you, they have foil for 1.00 enough to do my rubber maid tote with.. but check them out. they will have some, figure buy 2 rolls jsut incase.

  5. This is my second time growing. Its acctually a clone from the first plant. It ended up dying about 6 weeks into flowering but i was able to clone a broken branch before it died. Im kind of curious about what my yeild is gonna be because the other plant was hardly budding at all (maybe cuz i was using the cool whites)...I guess we'll see what happens with warm whites

  6. ROFL what is it with the tin foil, no offense mate but get rid of it hehe. Go buy (or scrounge up) some flat white paint and paint the entire inside of your box. Take a before and after pic and you will be AMAZED at how much brighter it is in there . . . period. Not to mention mirrors/foil do not diffuse light evenly and create hot spots, flat white diffuses the best.

On to the bulbs, I'll try and make it short :). The warm whites have a better spectrum for flowering yes as they are on the red end of the spectrum. However, from my experience you will sacrifice lumens per bulb for better spectrum, it's a trade off. I would suggest more than anything, adding as many compact or tube fluorescents that you can to increase the overall lumens the plants get. When using fluoros that is the most important in my experience. You can never have too much light, just too much heat.

Hope this helps, keep up the grow . .

  7. Good advice from Gonnagrow, get as many CFL's in there as you can.

If you're looking for a flouro bulb for flowering,I can recommend Envirolights. Check back a few pages on this section and you'll find links to suppliers in the USA, or do a search on google or even ebay and you'll find them. Running one of the 125w envirolights will probably cost you less (for electricity) than the set up you're running just now and will produce better results.

    Happy growing........
