im getting pretty close to the end of my first grow ever with cfls and its doing pretty well atm, but by reading around ive been really wanting to upgrade to an HPS light. Does it matter on the brand or will a light from amazon do? I was thinking of getting this light on one of my next paycheques but was wondering if it was a good deal or if i could get a better deal somewhere else? the light i was looking at was this specific one... http://www.amazon.ca/Watt-Hydroponic-Light-Electronic-Ballast/dp/B008RSGPEC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1384147435&sr=8-2&keywords=600w+ballast
If anything go up to 1,000W , i do 1,000's only but have lots of room and grow some big plants at times.
I'd grab this one. Comes with an air cooled hood which you'll probably need. 600 Watt HPS MH Tube Hood Reflector Air Cool Grow Light Kit System 600 600w http://amazon.ca/dp/B00CSVQ5NK Sent from my NSA recording device.
Amazon light will do. The brand name lights are typically a small bit more efficient and may last a little longer, but even a cheap fixture should provide good results. Like mentioned by Stumpie, you may want to consider an air cooled hood. Easier to manage temps with one.
Damm thats expensive consider this: http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Dimmable-Hydroponic-Reflector-Pressure/dp/B004L3AQ1U/ref=pd_sbs_lg_2 with change you can get this: http://www.amazon.com/Aviditi-PTU-66-Reflective-Hydroponic-48-Inch/dp/B004U6XSRC/ref=pd_sim_lg_2/186-1433666-7723462 peace "V"
