Wall socket question w/ pics

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by LOTE, Dec 11, 2006.

  1. This is the only outlet in my room that has what looks to be a grounded thrid prong hole. However, after closer inspection I discovered that it does not a appear to be grounded. It also does not appear to be a GFCI outlet being that it dosnt have a reset button on it. I'm no electrician, but not an idiot either. I want to know if I can run a 100 watt hps bulb, three floro tubes, and assorted small fans on this outlet?

  3. well i geuss the worse thing that could happen is the socket overloads and then some wires burn and your house is on fire...but i have the same socket as you and have a 400w hps in one and fans 4 cfl(23w) and one air pump on the other one....but if your house goes up in fire then dont say i didnt say so....lol

  4. lol, they are grounded, look at the screw pic, last one; those screwes screw into the electrical box (grounds the whole box to a ground)...

it will work great, i have old sockets in my house to and i just use these 1-3 socket adapters that put a ground on the outlet cause it doesnt have one and the ground is the screw that holds the panel on.

hey man +rep for thinking of asking (u can get shitty outlets that have the ground on the connector but arnt grounded and they cause fires in houses all the time)

  5. If the box is a PVC box then the outlet is not grounded when screwed into into it. I can not tell from the pic if it is PVC or metal.

  6. Depends what else is running on that same circuit. If nothing else... then your are probably OK.

  7. here is a better pic of the box. it is metal. Thanks a bunch. I will sleep in peace now.
