Wake Up!

  1. This song is a few years old now but I've just recently started listening to the album again and it makes a lot more sense to me now. My views of the govt have changed quite a bit over the last few years so it didn't quite have the same effect on me when it first came out.

    The artist is Shooter Jennings (son of Waylon Jennings) and the album is Black Ribbons. It's actually a concept album set up as a radio broadcast on the last night before the US govt takes over all public airwaves for govt approved and controlled programming. The DJ is voiced by Stephen King. If you've got spotify (link: Black Ribbons by Shooter Jennings on Spotify) I highly recommend checking out the entire album. Not all of the songs are political in nature but quite a few are.

  2. Interesting song. FYI we already have a thread for songs with political meanings. Check it out, maybe you will find some more good tunes of protest.
