Voices of Grunge (Puget Sound)

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by 605skunk, Nov 12, 2012.

  1. I'm a 90's kid from the Pacific Northwest and I am a big fan of grunge, well not as much as I was during my younger years but I'm a once a fan always a fan type person.

anyways I was discussing something with my friends that the big 4 grunge bands had singers who had such unique voices that we began comparing them to animals or some shit ha

Like for a example: Chris Cornell of Soundgarden is well known for his high-pitch screams and such that we decided to named him the Eagle of the Grunge

Eddie Vedder had a baritone, bassy voice. He had dat rumble so we called him Whale, besides he was surfer originally from San Francisco :D

but we couldn't decide anything for Kurt or Layne.

Layne had such a unique voice that was haunting he always often tripled or dubbed his vocal, so it was like lost souls or something

Kurt had that raspy voice, the only thing I can compare it to is John Lennon singing "Twist n Shout"

    what are your thoughts?
