What do you guys think? I think it's got a nice mellow vibe to it, definitely a great piece of work. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Grasscity Forum mobile app
The album fell flat for me. Recently drake has been more about claiming Toronto as his city, shouting it out and making a lot of his campaigns revolve around the fact that he is the 'king' of the 6; basically since his time with the Raptors began. If you look back past his work you'll actually see he used to shout out houston way more than toronto until a few years ago. I was expecting something that was going to highlight his time growing up in Toronto, what made him who he is today etc etc. But the album just is basically like Take Care 2.0. A collection of songs, a few bangers, but most of the tracks just keep glossing over relations hes had with chicks noone cares about. I dont care about really anything he is talking about on the album. IYRTITL actually hits home a lot better than this album did. How can you call this Views (from the 6), that is a basic implication that he was going to be revolving this album the city, its story, his story... but we got none of that. I'd give this album a lukewarm 5 out of 10.
I haven't heard it yet but I must agree that Drake's personal life in his music has changed. His dad is in his life now and his mom was always there. So, family wise, there isn't much for him to say about that. Hotline Bling was his peak as an artist. If it took nearly 10 years for him to be comfortable and dance for a whole video. With no worries if it was gonna bomb. We all knew he was #1. I think his career might be at a plateau of what he is actually talking about in his music. That is just based off his last mix tape and album previously before Views. Not saying it is worse since I haven't listened to Views yet.
