Video Card Help

Discussion in 'Silicon (v)Alley' started by MrGers, Jan 26, 2011.

  1. I built my PC a month or so ago. I got a BIOSTAR A780L which has an integrated ATI Radeon HD3000. I recently canibalized an older computer to find an ATI Radeon HD 3470. Now the mother board has "Support ATI Hybrid Crossfire". To my knowledge the integrated card has 512 MB but I can't find a lot of info on it. Here are the specs for the 3400s

Should I try to use my new found video card? Is there a way to improve upon my current video situation, which isn't really that bad, without too much trouble? Should I stop scrounging around for free parts and just got buy a NVIDIA?

  2. bump, i know there are some other IT Techs out there that give free advice. i just dont know anything about video cards!!! but ill make an image of ur machine any day!!!

  3. You probably won't notice a big difference but I'd use the card just to get the video off the motherboard.

If you decide to buy a new card as with everything do a lot of reading and find whats best for your needs. I stick to ATI myself.

  4. so that card has 256 MB of RAM. My integrated chip has 1919 or so. obviously this is because it's sharing but I tried using crossfire to use both. for some reason i cant get it t work. i followed all the directions, i fucked with the bios, its either 1 or the other. and tbh, my comp was getting mad hot when i used the dedicated. And all I use it for is SC2, and i close everything cept skype when i play(even explorer). so is there really any reason to use the dedicated card? will it make things go faster? I know sc2 looks crapier when I use the card.

    Anyway, thanks for the help.

  5. Oh it's only the 256mb version. In that case just stick with your onboard graphics untill you get a better card.

Hybrid Crossfire isn't really that great. Regular crossfire (two identical cards) is where it's at.

  6. It sucks but atleast once or twice in every pc gamer's life we got to hack up the extra several hundred dollars to play descent shit on the computer.

Fuck u doing with a hybrid anyways lol

  7. I don't think any of those video cards will offer you much. I would just shell out for a new video card.
