You've never heard of WOOTEN! He is a god among men I met him once and I learned like fifteen things just in that forty five minutes. My jazz professor went to school with him at Berkley. You should check out James Jamerson, Larry Graham, Stuart Hamm, Marcus Millar, Marco Rodi, soo many great bassists.

Along with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, sounds close to perfection. I currently have the Bluegrass Sessions from back in '99 on rotation. Whitehouse Blues being a top tune in my book right now. I dunno if Victor was with them during those recordings but I know he rips with Bela Fleck though.
Claypool, Wooten, and Burton are my favorite bass players, there are others but these are the cream o the crop
dude i met victor wooten at bananas at large in san rafael. it was sophmore year in highschool and i ditched at the begining of lunch go to see him. it was worth the phone call to my parents. his playing and music theory blew my mind, it completely changed the way i played, heard and saw music. "a lot of guys shred and show their chops to show off when they play, and they can play, very well. but you gotta ask yourself, are they playing music or are they playing bass?" blew my mutha fuckin mind
wooten was one of my biggest influences when i was jamming on the bass. classical thump ripped me a new one for the longest time. his bass camp was about 15 minutes away from my house before i moved. it was at montgomery bell state park. not to sure where it is nowadays though
Actually been jamming Bela Fleck for most of the day today. This guy is also amazing. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qARdE08p0A]YouTube - Jean Baudin & PJB Bass Amp L.A. NAMM 2008[/ame]
