I was discussing flowering with a buddy of mine and we both were talking about how many days into flowering our plants are and we realized we flipped the switch to 12/12 two days apart but out time into flowering was way different. My question is, do you count how long the plant is into flower from the day you flip the timer to 12/12 or is it from when you first start seeing the pistils and flowers? Clarify for us please!
When you flip the lights. I have some White Widows in flowering..39 days now. Dunno the time but I flipped mine May 1. Really makes no difference. A plant is not like a human where we respond instantly to things. Its like if you do not have a timer and your 5 mins off from when you turned on the lights wont matter one bit. You really could not do the pistil method as buds will form at different times and at different rates. Which flower would count if you did it that way? The last one or first one?
Ooooo okay. I was wrong then. I thought the harvest time was calculated from the time it starts to show pistils, not from when the light is turned to 12/12. My plants took a week or so before started showing pistils after flipping the time. Didn't know to estimate harvest time from first signs of sex or light time flip
When you turn the lights to 12/12 a hormone is building up in your plants. After a short time the plant changes stages that the hormone is inducing. So as soon as you put it into 12/12 that process started. Thats why everyone says to have strict darkness. I read in a mj growing book that about 2 mins of light disrupts that process. Those pistals your talking about also grow all over and keep coming. So you really could not judge it by that.
