Very first indoor set up help

Hello, so I'm going to start gardening in doors. I am using my closet which just has a curtain covering half and cloths blocking off other half. I have measure the area and got 32x22x62. I am planning on getting a small tent from eBay which is 36x20x63. I am planning on taking out extra cloths to allow for 4 inch difference. I am planning on getting a hydroponic booster fan as well to keep it cool/air circulating. I was originally planning on getting 3-4 lamps that clamp and for vegetation cycle using ecosmart 19-watt (75W) soft white cfl bulb, for flowering cycle 3-4 Ecosmart 14-watt (60W) daylight cfl light bulbs.

For lighting I would like some advice on how many lights I would need for 1-2 females. Going to get 4 seeds to start and weed out males.

Soil I would be using would be MiracleGro organic soil, using Vermiculite from Ace Hardware and MiracleGro Perlite to the mix of soil.

I'd also have a digital pH meter, and possibly from amazon a General Hydroponics GH1514 pH control kit. Which include base (raises nutrient solution), Acid (lower nutrient solution), and the pH test indicator.

From what I read I should try to maintain pH between 6.3-7.0?

And when watering leave water out for a day at least to get rid of chemicals ect.

For the start I plan on using rock wool, then transfer to a pot once roots look good.

I'd check between days 7-10 for sexing

Week 2-3 start using fertilizer

For veg I would be doing 18/6 for 4-6weeks
Food I would be feeding it would be Green Light All Purpose plant food (20-20-20) feeding every 3rd watering, watering every 3-4 days depending if soil dry.

For flower would be 12/12 for 4-8 weeks, haven't decided what % of the pistles I'll wait to turn from white to brown. Have seen people say anywhere from 35-50% or up to 75-80% turned. If I stick to full 8 weeks of flowering during the 6th week I'd stop nutrients,
Food would be MiracleGro shake n feed bloom (10-16-10) feeding every 3rd watering, watering every 3-4 days depending if soil dry.

By 7th week of flowering start trimming small leaves to allows more light to hit the bigger leaves/bud. I'll use the bigger leaves for hash trim.

After 8 weeks cut plants and hang up side down in tent lights off/fan going, I'll keep me there for bout 1-2 weeks depending on when stem snaps when bent.

Then I'll put buds/flowers loosely in sealed mason jars for a week or two. (Heard that fridge works for this part can I have confirmation from someone who has attempted this before.) throughout that time I will open jar for bout 5-10mins to let them get fresh air, I'll slightly squeeze a leaf to check if too moiste as well as keep an eye and make sure no moister is building up. After the 1-2 week of fridge will seal in jar for 30 days.

Was also thinking about using a grinder for leaves with a penny where screen is and then ciggy plastic wrapper, squeeze as much as I can, fold up, tape, wrap with soaked paper towel, 175 for 10-15 mins then leave cool in fridge for 2-3 hours.



I haven't decided which seeds to start off with, like title says, it will be an indoor grow, I prefer Sativa over indica or a Sativa dominant I would be okay with, any easy starter but still potent strains would be helpful.


This is the over view plan, looking at taking up to 5 months if I'm patient, which I plan to be. I have tried doin g my own research before asking anything, this is everything I managed to come out with, would love positive feedback, if there are things I misunderstood from reading other posts in the forum please do correct me. I am 100% never planted a thing in my life but am willing to commit to this and start a journal on the forums. A friend will be getting me seeds from local dispensary, I don't know price per seed or what seeds they would have. If anyone has any local (Santa Clara, California) prices and knows which dispensaries have which seeds also greatly appreciated.

I am planning on making a carbon filter, but I'm not too worried because the cloths I'm leaving in closet next to tent are just whatever cloths no work/school clothing will be in closet. I may get a digital humidity device now that you mention it I did see one online on amazon for about $10. Avoid miracle Gro? Good to know, I'll be getting food/soil from either Ace hardware or Home Depot if anyone has suggestions. Thanks for advice MrTee

I guess I got everything planned lol I get paid this Friday, I'll order the tent from eBay, hydroponic fan from Amazin and once I get those delivered going to OSH for nutrients/soil and will make sure to avoid MiracleGro. Also will make a carbon filter while I wait for tent/fan.
