Vermicomposting CO2+ Growtent O2 = Pefect Combo?

  1. So I am just sitting here thinking.. probably just a stupid idea.. however, I'm going to go with it. Google & I don't get along right now.

I'm thinking about getting a worm farm to go inside my closet OP. (I'm not sure of the actual dimensions of the closet, will find out.) My theory is that the worms ought to be producing enough CO2 to feed the ladies, and the ladies ought to be producing enough O2 to fill the room plentifully. Perfect symbiotic relationship, no? Or am I just stoned…?

  2. Hey Ganjas,
Can't hurt to try it. Just be aware that you will need a good cover for the bin, as worms don't like bright light. The higher temperatures in the grow room would be beneficial for the worms too I imagine, during these colder months.

  3. wouldnt put too much food in the worm farm as with the heat it would rot and stink and maybe attract unwanted bugs

In a closet, contained LEDs (SolarStorm 400W) in a tent. Worms outside the tent, in a container with the lid barely craked. No intake fan or anything on the tent, just sucking in fresh air from the closet... And in turn, the Co2 produced by the worms?

  5. Ganjas, I think it would be beneficial. But I can't say that I think it's an effective way to supplement CO2, if that's what you're after. I don't know how much CO2 worms produce, and it would depend on the size of your bin. So, I'd do it, in fact, I'm planning on moving my outdoor bin into the room where my grow closet is, to keep the worms warm, and they may increase CO2 levels to some degree. But if CO2 supplementation is the goal, I don't know that the worms will fulfill that need.

  6. So then what IS a good primary/supplemental Co2 source?

  7. co2 bottles would be ya best option, for small spaces you could use yeast and sugar mixed with water or baking soda and vinegar
