ventilation questions

  1. I need some ventilation help. I have a big room with one door and a window in it. The room is completely sealed other than that. I want to exhaust my 265cfm dayton blower out the window without making it obvious (for example, i dont want to have the fan mounted to the window to blow out). Would this idea work:

The room is 20 feet long X 15 feet wide. what if i cut the room in half by sectioning it with blankets sealed to the walls, cieling, ground, etc. I would section it going across the room, so i would have 2 section that was 15 feet wide and 10 feet long. Then i was thinking i take the section towards the back of the room near the window and section it off going the long way, so the blanket sectioning off that part would be right in the middle of the window. The side of the window where the plants were on would be sealed, but the other side would have the window open without being sealed so air could get out. Then i cut a hole in the blanket from the part where the plants are to fit the exhaust end of the fan. Then the hot air would be exhausted into the other sectioned off part by the window, and the hot air would naturally going out the window and keep the room with the plants cool. So the room will be in 3 parts total. One section which isn't going to be used which is the big section (10 feet long X 15 feet wide). and then two sections in the other half of the room which would be by the window for the process of exhausting the air that i typed above. Would this work in exhausting the air and keeping the grow room cool?

  2. Yes it will work, but blankets? where are you getting your makeup air from (new air rich in Co2 from outside)? you could do the same in your "blanket" by putting the exhaust on one end and the intake on the other and leaving that window wide open (blanket will glow because of the light).

My room is of the exact same size, i sealed off all the windows and on 2 pointing in totally different directions i have my Intake and on the other my exhaust. We have rolling systems (hurricane protection automatic shutters)on all our windows so that is down but not completely tightened to the openings between the shutter section allows for air in and out, so you really cannot see the fan.

What type of ceiling do you have? if its drywall, simply exhaust your air into the ceiling space above, 265cfm is probably what? 6 inch diameter? easy enough to repair that drywall afterwards if your renting, if not your set.

  3. PS best to duct your exhaust directly from the Light Hood that will keep most of the heat from getting to both the room and plants below. But you still need make up air (Fresh air) for the plants to develop properly.

  4. i didnt read much of it coz im fucking tired and cant be bothered, but i saw the bit about you using blanktes??? DONT!! blankets harvest shit like dust, mold and mildue....you don't want that mate!

  5. I know blankets are shitty idea, i will probably just exhaust it into the ceiling, since the room is drywalled (the walls and ceiling). Where will the exhaust air go since i'm on the top floor? Will the smell from the exhaust go down to the lower floors once it's exhausted into the ceiling? So if i'm understanding this correctly. The exhaust will be mounted to the ceiling where the drywall is to exhaust into the ceiling, and the intake will have my 6" duct tubing going from the intake flange to the flange on the light. The hot air from the light will be sucked into the blower, and exhausted into the ceiling. The window will also be left open so new air can enter the room. Is this correct?
