Ventilation question

    Hey, I bought this carbon filter kit on ebay and was wondering if its good enough for my first grow? My tent is 60x60x140

    Fan: 4″ Axial Flo Fan – 105m3/h
    Carbon filter: Rhino Hobby Filter 4" 100 x 300 Carbon 350m3/Hr

    im pulling the air through the filter and there's no ducting in between the fan and the filter

    The carbon filter seem to work fine as I just light up incense inside the tent and no smell came out. but how do I know if the fan is good enough for ventilation? Do I need to feel the air blowing out of the ducting?

    No, usually 1 times your cubic area per minute is fine. I was surprised when I put a little 4 inch 100cfm which I ran on low speed just sitting on the filter in my dry room which is my bedroom. On no smell, off quite pungent. No fan or filter does a better job. Some fans break and get loud sooner or are loud to begin with but if they blow air they are all the same. Filters come in different brands, just like the air filter in your car. Some claim to be superior to budget brands and many swear by them. Problems arise when the canfan is doing double duty as the ventilation fan and then must be run all the time, or cannot be run when it gets too cold. I like to keep smell a separate issue because those can fans probably add as much heat as the dissapate. And they are loud and I don't like being forced to run it just for air. Seedlings don't really need odor control. I can leave it off until the joint starts stinking.

    Great thanks! So I dont need to have the exhaust fan on at all before the flowering stage?

    No you can rescrub your tent if your carbon filter is good! Shouldnt have any issues as long as you leave it running 24/7 and the humidity not too high!

    Thats during flowering sorry! My bad thought we were at flowering..loll no need before...youll know when its time!

    test it.!!
    run all lights and fans on, take temp readings for a few days or a week,
    take temps in multiple spots and at different heights, 90 cm, 60 cm, and 30 cm from light. (3', 2', and 1')
    keep in mind these readings will change some when the space gets full.!!

    Good answer slow old guy!! answer there gives you an idea of the lighting as well as vent! Take notes masub420 the height is as important to not burn plants, people mustake it for nute burn, just my 2 c2nts!

    i use a wall calendar, they have big squares to write in and it's pre-dated, i am old AND lazy! LOL
