Ventilation question..

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by saynotoschwag, Jul 11, 2006.

  1. Im starting a grow in my closet and have an oscilating fan set on the plants, but im wondering if i could just leave the closet door cracked to keep existing air from being reused over and over.. so my question is even if the door was cracked would it let air out?

  2. I guess it might work but why not just get come pc fans?

  3. You need to bring in a constant flow of freash air and a constant exhust of the warm humid air. Only way areound this is an AC unit and CO2 tanks.
Cracking the door alittle will not work.

  4. what would be the easiest way to create exhaust and least expensive ;)

and i have a little question about lighting i wanted to add too, im going to start with around 12 little plants with about 200w of fluros, so i keep lights 3 inches from plants? when do i transfer them to big pots.. sry newb question hehe

  5. Your in luck, I just so happen to be putting in vents to my stereo closet. You will need to add a hole like this one on the bottom as well as the top.

You only need to install exhust fans in the top vents hole/holes. If you want to put fans on the intake, make sure they are of the same size or larger then the exhust. But intake fans are an option. You gan get the box type fans at Radioshack or any local electronics retailer. Make sure they are AC and get a plug. Box style fans wont cool a large HID light but will be enough for a florescence grow or a small 250w or less grow. Get a fan that fits your hole and try to get one with the highest CFM rating.

Note: The setup I posted wont be 100% light proof or odor proof at all. They have ways of doing that to this style of vent but for now its a start.

Grow your plants in small pots till they are able to drink all the moisture from the dirt in one day. I dont know how small is small so I cant give a real measurment. Then put them in the final pot. 12 plants is a grow room not a closet.

    Hope this helps, R.

  6. Transplant a plant in a new pot is easy or risky? Better to put the germinated seeds in the pot that I will use for the entire grow?

  7. The longer its in the small pot the easier it will be to remove (it cant wait to get out). Alot depends on the container. Start in small pots to find the strong seedlings. A better place to get answers to general questions is the "Absolute Beginners" forum. I still ask question in that forum.
    Good luck, R.
