Ventilation Help

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Kaliam, May 15, 2011.

  1. Hey there. I'm going to be growing in my closet, which is 25Dx35Wx66H (in inches), but I have no idea how to set up proper ventilation... I'll probably be growing 4-6 plants under about 400w... I'm super new to this and would love any help :)

  2. You know where you want one end of the vents to be (the closet). The next step is deciding where the other ends of the intake & exhaust are going to be. The attic or the same kind of vents on the roof used for bathroom & kitchen vents are a couple possibilities. Other places might include a basement, leading outside the building like if mounted to an open window, under the building, another room, a garage, etc.

Damnit... This could prove problematic. I have nowhere like that to run it. Are there any alternative options for closed space grows? How do other people make it work in such tight quarters?

  4. Without good ventilation, a 400w might not be the best choice after all. You may need to look into cool fluorescents or LED's. There has to be some sort of airflow, though. I've seen the crack under the closet door used for circulation using a small centrifugal blower.

Most tight areas still have an opening for air in the wall.

  5. What if I was already considering CFLs? Would a CFL grow be a good idea in this kinda setup? I just wanna do what's best for what I have... brb, checking my closet for holes in the wall. lol

  6. It doesn't. Fuck.

  7. Basically you want to suck the air out of the closet but you will need a place to put that. Thats the problem with closets. Most can't drill holes in them and there pretty air tight.

Check out T5 lights. They run cool as well and are a convenient shape..square for hanging from the ceiling or you can make a stand for them easily. CFLs are a good choice to. Both those options still generate heat. Your going to have to open your door eventually to let the heat out.

Thats why grow tents are good. You can put it all inside of it and exhaust the heat to the room.

  8. Ok, so let's say I had a grow tent and I wanted to keep it inside of my closet with the exhaust fan facing the OPEN DOOR of my closet, and I'd keep my closet open 24/7 to make sure that it had a space to blow that exhaust out of while staying stealthy enough... It would just look like a big tent inside of my closet, but it would be 100% functional, right? can you recommend a specific tent for the dimensions im working with, if it works?

  9. Yes it would work. All you would see is a big black rectangle in there. Some of my buds do that..took the shelving out of there walk in and have it on one side. Works great. The important thing on heat is air exchange. Hot air out goes into closet and out to the room with air from outside it coming in. Hot air recycling with hot air is not good.

Well tents come in all sizes. Some are cheap some are expensive. Use Amazon.com and type in Grow Tent. Cheap ones have there faults though..zippers are not as good, no cloth covering for the zippers and vent tubes tend not to be advertised size. They work though. Right now I have a cheap one thats 32x32x64.

Heres a link to a site that sells grow tents. Secret Jardin ones are very good to..actually very nice. I will be replacing my current tent with one of those. I want a 4 foot x 4 foot 78 inch one.
