Ventilation for cooling Grow Light

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by DimeDubEighth, Oct 6, 2010.

  1. I have a 600 watt mh/hps light set up with 2x6 inch holes for ducting. I was wondering if I could use a ventilation fan to serve as a dual purpose fan for ventilation as well as cooling down my light. I'm planning on running the ducting from the fan through the light, and the ducting from the other end of the light outside. What do you guys think about this?

  2. Sounds good. Use as little ducting as you can. It make the fan more efficient

  3. Yes, you have an air-cooled hood, and running ventilation through it is what it is designed for. Some folks have their light on its own closed system, intaking and exhausting air through the hood that never gets into the actual grow space. Or, you could leave one end of the hood open so that it draws the air from the grow space and then vents it out.
