I have a little 24" x 15" x 22"H grow box, , and I'm tired of messing with computer fans and DIY carbon filters. I finally made space outside the box for a true 4" carbon filter and fan, but I'm actually worried that even on its slowest speed, a 4in inline would be too much for 4.6 cu ft. I'm looking at going all out and getting the AC Infinity CLOUDLINE T4, since it is adjustable, and seems to be quiet down to a rather low speed. Also the fan is all I have to control climate, so having some automation would help with that, if I can run it on anything more than the slowest speed. The flow will be a little restricted from the smaller 1.5" PVC that will act as my intake (2' long with a bunch of 3/8" holes and filter cloth wrapped around it) and first foot of ducting. Anyone use this large of fan on such a small area? How slow does the CLOUDLINE go? They don't list specs of it's range.
really 15 height ? Please share some pics . Yes that 4 inch fan is past over kill. It will collapse the box . All you need is a small pc fan .and a few vents . Unless im missing something . Im saying the pot for the plant is what a half gallon so you can use a bag . three inches tall. Side lighting . i guess 12/12 from seed pull 4 to 6 grams ?
So far, I just use it to veg a couple plants, sometimes get them started in flower, then put them outside to finish off. I can start a photoperiod in late summer for a winter harvest, start a plant around Christmas for a spring harvest, and then start an autoflower in late winter or early spring for an early summer harvest. I also do a full outdoor photoperiod grow starting in early summer. So I've had several harvest of plants started there, but I haven't finished anything off in it yet. I would like to have the option, maybe throw one plant outside, and keep one inside to finish. GrOw Small or Go Home. I really don't know how much I get, I don't weigh it, But the pair of plants that finish outside in the cooler winter and early spring tend to fill a 64 oz mason jar, The autoflower that finishes in the warmer late spring early summer will give me about one a 64 oz jar, and 32 oz full.
In my opinion, it would not be worth finishing a plant inside of that box. 3 months for a few grams is not even close to worth it.
No 15 is deep, it's 22 in tall, and the top of the box is an aluminum sheet with the light strips stuck to it, so I have the full 22 in. I normally grow plants in a 1 or 3 gallon. Plants get thrown outside when they're about a foot tall, which for the auto flowers is in flower, and for the photo periods is still in veg.
To each their own, that's what I have to work with. You haven't seen what some people can do in small places, I could train a single plant to give much more than a few grams in that space. As it is now I throw the plants outside at a foot tall, but with a little more training I could do a single plant all the way.
Oh, about the fan, it would not collapse it since it's rigid. It's really dependent on how slow that thing can go. The problem I've had with PC fans is that anything that moves a decent amount of air through a filter is just too damn loud. I'm tired of messing with inadequate DIY and repurposed filters that don't really work very well, so I want to put a real 4" x 10" filter. Unfortunately, the quietest I can find that would move the air through a filter is something like the 4" AC fan, since it uses a type of motor that can easily be turned down to rather low levels and still run quietly..... It's just a matter of how low can it go. Kind of sucks, I can find two and three inch in line fans, but they're loud as hell, and when you slow them down they're still loud because the motors aren't meant to run slower.
I am trying to upgrade the fan, hence the question. I've tried many high quality fans, like Noctua, and axial blower fans with pmw. Nothing has the ability to push enough CFMs through enough carbon to do the job. If I had the place for a bigger setup, I would have one, but we do what we do with what we got. Just vegging at the moment, I'd like to control smell a little better, cuz even in veg you get a little bit of musty smell, and I'd like to have the option of flowering a single plant in there. Only problem I see with too much airflow, is that everything dries out much faster and humidity stays pretty low when the plants are smaller. Anyways I actually contacted AC Infinity, and they got back to me with the specs I was looking for, I'll post them when I have time for those that might want it. Looking at what they sent me compared to the specs of the two 120mm radial fans I have I think it will work and be much quieter. And when I do upgrade to a little larger space, I'll have an extraction fan to start with. Sent from my phbgf uijj tplkjn
If your RH is too low outside the tent, too much air can drop you RH to a bad level. But for you it doesnt really matter, your already messing up growing in 20% RH... Been watching your threads, your really dish out some bad advice...
Dude some of the best weed on the planet comes from climates that rarely see RH over 20% during the day. To much bro science out there stop falling for it. Im just not afraid to go against popular belief when ive got experience that is very different from what the majority of people assume. Ive seen guys blowing mist humidfiers directly at plants because they thought it was critical to have their RH in a very specific range and instead were covering their plants in the minerals from the water and encouraging mold growth. RH has little effect on growing. Just changes how frequently you need to water. The more water a plant pulls through its roots, the more nutrients it takes in. It can be hard to keep the plants well fed growing organically. The lower the RH the better. Plus you drastically reduce any mold risks.
