Questions are meant to be asked. During the vegetative state of growth the plant is developing into maturity. It's producing leaves and bud sites, as well as a strong stem to support the buds. After vegetative growth, the plant goes into flowering. At that point it will develop buds and trichomes if its a she, and pollen sacks if its a he.
think of vegetative stage like building a foundation for a building and then the flowering as the actual building construction. The better, bigger foundation built, the bigger and better building you can build.
