Vegging Nutrient Question

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Pure Dankness, Oct 1, 2006.

  1. Hey all, I am goin to be putting my germed seeds into their soil really soon and i was curious which nutrients to use for vegging. Iam using scotts 0-0.5-0 potting soil with no time release ferts and scotts perilite and I was wonderin wether or not to add blood meal bone meal or both to the mix. The two choices I was lookin at had the brand name of Viagro, claims to be all natural organic blah.. The blood meal was 11-0-0 and the bone meal was 1-11-0. I am lookin for somethin that wont mess with the ph to much but a little adjusting is fine. Also do i just mix it all in with the soil or put on top. THx guys

  2. im no expert but from what ive read its much easier to use a non-fertilised soil/substrate, makes it much easier for when your watering with nutrients (especially with hydro) to know the amount of nutrients in the system, and to be able to flush it when you want to. having blood and bone or similar would probably increase the chances of nutrient burn, should you wish to fertilise/use nutrients at a later stage

edit: http://forum.grasscity.com/advanced-growing-techniques/115715-12-12-seed-looking-eh.html - that lad mentions using blood and bone in his grow

  3. your sprouts are too sensitive for any type of soil with ferts

go read some posts in the sick plant forum, there are atleast 30 peeps oor more this season that have had major issues with scotts, miracle grow, and the likes

your better off adding the nutes when you water when the plant is at the appropriate age.

sorry I cant answer the bone meal questions I dont use chemicals or animal by-products

  4. umm people have problems with the time release nutes in the soil not the brand of soil dude. so um yeah anyone know how much blood meal to add when planting germed seeds?

  5. Maybe its just me, but there is something really wrong with that statement. My opinion which im sure isnt the same as everyonelses: Dont nute babies.

  6. yea, no nutes at all for the first three (i think it's three weeks?) weeks. when i use bone and blood meal, i wait until the first time i transplant them. then i know they have a root structure and are old enough. just use it per the instructions, which boils down to one tablespoon for every inch of pot diameter. or i think one pound meal for 10 pounds soil (i think).

  7. Pure dank ur gonna burn up ur babies dude. just plain water and plain soil mix for the first couple weeks. the plants will fend for their own when young they are a Weed.

  8. haha ok guys good thing i just palced some on top of the cups. Ill go and scoop it out
