Vapor Bros. vs. Silver Surfer

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by DvS*oNe, Jul 19, 2006.

  1. What's going on everyone. So here is my problem, I have done some extensive research on which vape to buy, and I have narrowed my vape options to Vapor Bros. and the Silver Surfer.

But now I would like to get some feedback from the Vapor Bros owners, and the Silver Surfer owners.

I used search, and came up with good things and bad things about both.

I have used the Vapor Bros before and loved it. But I have heard that the heating element is not ceramic, and isn't very good for your health. And the whip is plain and boring. On the plus side, I like the design and ease of use.

On the Silver Surfer, I like the fact that it sports a ceramic heating element, and the hand blown heat cover points downward versus upward like the VaporBros version. The SSV sports a colored whip, and hand blown marble for on/off opperation. On the down side, it looks somewhat home made.

I'm sorry for all the verbage, but I would like to know what YOU guys think about these two vapes.

    Thanks in advance,
    dvs*one

  2. Actually, ceramics aren't healthier they are more durable. With the low temps involved with vaporization, metal ions being released is very unlikely. I've had a few discussions about this lately.

I heard actually that ceramics were the ones to be more likely to be unhealthy in the end, but it's all mudslinging. It's just a heating element and it does the same thing, at low enough temps to not have to worry about combusting metals. It's just the ceramics can hold up to switching it on and off more.

That's about all I can add to this at the moment, but I must say I like the Vapo. Bro. because that's the one I've tried. The surfer looks stylish in areas but you can get a custom whip from a headshop if you want. I prefer the way the VB looks compared to the surfer, and the name of the silver surfer kinda kills it for me as well.

  3. I'm leaning that way myself. Thank you for the reply.:D

  4. ive never even used a vaporizer up until recent past couple weeks my boy bought one. and wow. those things are so fuckin awesome. we got a vaporbros from our local headshop. and let me tell you this thing is the SHIT. plus i think the vapor bros looks a lot more simple. heat for five minutes. load bowl, attatch, and suck. how much more simple can you get!?!? and oh gawd the taste is soooooooooooo fucking good. damn i want to smoke out of it right now but my boy is out of town and he took it with him. last time he left it here for us :D

  5. I've never hit a silver surfer, but so far they have the best design out of any box/whip vape. The ceramic heating element is a plus.

Honestly i'd say get a Vaporwarez. Its cheaper than the vaporbros (on ebay 120 shipped) and its better all around.

I'll tell you that if you get the vaporwares/vaporbros, you're going to be tilting it everytime you hit it. It can get annoying, but i dont mind it too much.

Vaporbros and vaporwarez have great track records for reliability and quality, whereas silver surfer is pretty new.

I say dont get either. get the 3g Vaporwarez Vaporcannon

  6. Colenal, does the VaperWarez light up like the Vapor Bros? I know it does nothing mechanically, but it looks cool.

  7. it doesnt have the underglow w/ the dimmer.

it does have an independent on/off switch so that you can set a good temp and leave it set. And the switch glows heh... not as cool, but better design.

I had the vaporbro's as my first vape and the heating element failed on me. Damn thing blew up when i turned it on one day. I would suggest not getting it just because of that.

Vaporwarez ceramic element is way better, plus it has a 5 year warranty. Worry free vaping for 5 years is worth it in my book.

  8. I do believe you have now given me a third option. I found a listing on eBay for the VaporWarez. Buy it now is set at $119.00, you get a free grinder, and a free scale. I just might go with that one.

    +rep for the great advise.;)

    I really do appreciate it!:D

  9. yup, thats the one i got. I love it.

Good luck w/ your decision. You'll love vaping and your lungs will love you. :)

  10. I have vaped quite a few times off of the Vapor Bros., but the only thing that is bothering me is the heating element. I have read that the heated coils aren't good as the ceramic.

Is the workman ship comparable on the VaporWarez? It doesn't seem flimsy, or cheaply made?

  11. The coils suck. Plain and simple. They dont maintain temps accurately. they take forever to heat up and the failure rate is exponentially higher than that of a ceramic element.

When mine blew up i took it apart and found that the wiring was really shoddy . It arc'ed and blew up in a glorious yellow flash.

the box is pretty much exactly the same. Its really solid. The warez is def. quality.

  12. :smoking:The first vaporizer I hit was from vapor bros and it ripped me up but it was my friends. I decided to buy one myself and I got one from vaporwarez. It does own and I like it a lot. The only thing I changed was the hose because it was too short and that was only like 2 bucks. It came with a grinder and 2 pokers and was reasonably priced. Also pretty easy to use and its cool that you can turn it off when you find your preferred temperature. But if I had to pick I prefer vapor bros over silver surfer just because of the look. Vaporwarez is teh way to go though! Hope you find what you are looking for.

  13. LOL you edited out the part where you said ceramics heat up and change temp faster. :D that's what I meant by that rep comment btw

The heating element on the VB is designed so you can't turn it off and on a lot, you just leave it on and only turn it off at night or when you leave the house. Tillianne has a VB that has been running fine for a long time now; but she had to burn out one element first and talk to customer service about it to get it to work so long. LOL

A warranty is always a plus- a sign of a quality product. But the cool lights are too, I really like that about Tilli's VB.

I'm pretty sure they will replace it if you break it really fast by accident...

You might want to go with the Vaporwarez from what people are saying though. It's up to you man :D

  14. Robetussin2, thanks for the input. I think I'm most likely going to get the VaporWarez. It sounds like the best bang for the buck. I happen to like the seperate on/off switch myself.

I don't know...I never imagined it would take this much thought for a vape!

Thanks again, and welcome the neighborhood!:bongin:

  15. Yeah definitely change the hose when you get it. You can get some dirt cheap from home depot. If you cut a 1" section and just bring it w/ you for size comparison. The hose is really flimsy and prone to kinks. I've had entire bowls combust instantly from a kink and it sucks so hard. Home depot hose is burly stuff.

+rep for good advice and welcome to the city.

  16. Hey man, I'm glad we helped you with your decision though. This way you know you are getting the truly stoner-endorsed vaporizer you really want.

  17. This scares me.

  18. And that's exactly the kind of input I was looking for. :D

    Thanks again! +rep

  19. I'm so blazed off of vapor right now... I love it. It almost takes me away from smoking because the taste and high is so clean.

Everyone should own a vaporizer, that way you don't have to bring one to the party- it's already there. :D

and if the party is at your house, mission accomplished.

  20. Bout to 'splain it as best as i can:

Once you find a good temp (usually the dial should be between 11 and 1 o'clock, you'll probably end up just leaving it there.

basically, the softer you pull, the denser your hit is. Thats because the hot air has more time to hit the surface of the buds and boil out the terpenes (the essential oils that get you high).

If you kink the tube, you're restricting the airflow thus making the hit really soft and dense. If you dont pay attention it will combust. The hose that comes w/ the unit is really rubbery and pliable whereas the home depot one is thick and strong.

So just keep that in mind. Get a good sturdy home depot hose. Problem solved.
