    Hey guys,

Basically im going on vacation tomorrow with my family to the philippines. Im so grateful for that and i was so excited until they said they didnt want to take any medications, after telling me last minute that it was too late to take them, after i did my research and found out that tourists need to take medications before travelling there.

The Phillipines suffers from malaria infestations, as well as dengue fever infestations, having a 25% INCREASE of cases since last year, officially being labeled as a pandemic 2 months ago by their government.

I had no idea we needed medications, if i knew much earlier i would have taken them, but the fact my parents r so unprepared pisses me off.

I DONT UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC!!!!!! And to top it off, their friend just DIED from malaria in kenya because he didnt want to take meds. THat should have been a fucking eye opener.

  2. can you not get medicine? i would. and yes you are thinking reasonable. sometimes parents' decisions are often wrong. someone once told me "never listen to your parents" i wish i should of took his advice a lot sooner

    btw tamagotchis!

  3. Nope, no way to get the meds now. There is actually no vaccinations to help prevent or heal dengue fever, only malaria. The body has to wait it out if it catches dengue fever and survives it. But the chances of surviving severe dengue fever when u have an auto immune disease AKA diabetes... chances of u surviving r slim.

THe fact is, that area just got hit with a really bad storm, storm Bopha / Pablo.

The more water there is with all the flooding in the outer areas... the more, much more, mosquitos there will be.

I just think, if i had a son who had diabetes, i would be on top of my game with it, do my research, i would not travel to a place where dengue has been labeled a PANDEMIC....where studies have been made to show a direct link between severe dengue fever and diabetes, resulting in death.... i would not take the risk!!!

(and ya lol i collect tamagotchis)

  4. I wouldn't worry about it. I have been living on a farm for 2 years in a 3rd world country that has a list of recommended shots to take before coming here.

Dengue is a big problem here, but in all honesty people over react. You are only going to see dengue if you travel far into jungles with no civilization.

I have a dog named dengue, im more worried about him chewing my shoes than the actual dengue.

I doubt you guys will be going to be sleeping in the middle of the jungle on your vacation.

  5. Uh, dude, why not just not go?

Cant, im already halfway there, im not back home, in a different country. Im just waiting to board my flight at 6am to finish the trip to get there.

Theres nothing i can do right now but accept it, my dad comes up to me a few minutes ago and says "Were relying on u to bring the mosquito repellents"... sorry but wtf sort ur fucking self out, ur so underprepared u dont even know anything as to why u need it... should have told the family about needing to protect ourselves a long time ago, not a day before.

  7. Think of all the ways you could contract Malaria. Do your research. And i live in Canada with misqutos all over the freaking place and all i have to say is that all your misquito repellent is going to do is make you weak on their thermal view, which is how they look at things.

It doesnt mean they can't see you or know your there its that your blended in with everything else which means you should still cover up as best as you can, espiclally areas your going to have a tough area looking after like the back of your neck, head and back of the legs/ankles feet.

Get your shot as soon as you can, for real..There's a reason theres a huge health scare in relation to it right now, not because it can kill a ton of people but because its so easy to contract and give to other people.

Also, getting the shot at this point probably wont help at all if you contract it, it may actually make the situation worse..Kinda hard to say.

  8. Thanks for the advice and yeah ur right, it probably would make it worse considering how the vaccines have a small dose of the illness inside it, in order for the body to create anti bodies to work against it and strengthen the immune system.

    Im a dead man walkin.

  9. Yeah well in a regular immune system it would prep ur shit for whatever ur being vaccinated for but since your auto your probably gonna have a tougher time dealing with it and if you actually get a little sick from it and then get another good dose of it you could be fine or be paralyzed for life or a whole host of other shit so just becareful.

  10. try not to eat as much fruits (hard since mangoes are bomb, especially in phillipines). mosquitos tend to go for the sweetest of bloods

  11. If its as serious as it seems, which it may not be, i don't know anything about this. Throw down the money for a plane ticket and go home. Probably worth the couple hundred bucks. Good luck.

See there man, you got diabetus(no offense), just don't eat anything sweet, and you'll kill two hundred mosquitoes with one can of spray.
    Don't get kidnapped!
Wish my parents took me on vacation...

  13. Lol its whatever im here now i cant do much about it but accept it lol

If it happens it happens, im just gonna enjoy the ride :hello:

    hahahaha

  19. Maybe it's just me, but if I was going on vacation to another country and we have this little thing called the internet, I probably would've looked up the country and the rules online for my own sake. Especially if I have to take some kind of medication.
