Does anyone know of a cost effective ultraviolet light I can use to rid my water of chloramines? I have a 5 gallon water pail, so it doesn't need to be anything big or extreme.
I doubt it very much being a salt base, but you can get tablets at the pet store for owners of aqua fish good luck
I wouldn't waste your time. Chloramines dont matter. Water supplies can only have a maximum 3-5 ppm of chlorine and it takes something like 150 ppm to start affecting plants.
So do I even need to have my 5 gallon pail full of tap water sitting overnight? Can I just use the water as soon as it comes out of the tap?
Chloramine-T is the organic compound with the formula CH3C6H4SO2NClNa. Both the anhydrous salt and its trihydrate are known. Both are white powders. Chloramine-T is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. CHLORAMINE T (TOSYLCHLORAMIDE SODIUM) https://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/cr60311a005
sure you can but letting it gas out allows for the water to get to air temp ...saves you shocking roots
Acid+Base -> Salt. EG chlorine + sodium -> sodium chloride and energy is released. Chloramine is a compound of ammonia and chlorine. It is relatively stable compared to chlorine. I don't think you can remove it using light.
I've been using 5 drop per gallon/ 1 ml per 5 gallons of Mars Fishcare Tap Water Conditioner (TWC)? It removes heavy metals and chlorimides in fish tanks. Thread I started last year: SODIUM THIOSULFATE Tap Water Conditioner | Grasscity Forums - The #1 Marijuana Community Online
