The reason I ask, is because I'm trying out the H and G system, I got a sample. I normally use XNutrients. The sample bottles don't have ingredient lists like the big XNutes bottles. I'm already using CalMagX with it, because I run hydro, and there was no calmag sample. I figured id use Silica too, but then I see on the feed chart H and G gave me, it says their amino treatment has a "special silicate". I checked my xnutes Amino Blast, looks similar, but no silicates on the list. I kno the Silica provides potassium also, but I don't want to overdo it on silicon if that other already has it. Id only be using 5ml/gal if I did use the Silica. Sent from my Desire HD using GC Forum
My verdict is I don't know. From research on cucumbers vs tomatoes it has been found that cucumber will take up tons of silica and tomatoes will not. As for cannabis it is not known. There is a issue with cucumber's silica uptake that may apply to cannabis if it also uptakes inordinate amounts of silica. This being, that leaves become very rigid. This is good for vegetables but for smoking cannabis it may not be desired to have super tough leaves since some delicateness to the leaves is desirable when it comes to smoking. If at all possible, it would be nice of you to run a trial and report back. Full dose Amino Blast and silica vs full dose of Amino Treatment vs full dose mix. If not, I would personally pick one not both or do a half dose of each. I have gone back to H&G after a stint of experimentation and am kicking myself for leaving. H&G is like plant steroid. The Amino Treatment is new to me right now, but seems to be another awesome product. FYI: The H&G sales rep gave my grow shop a bunch of MOAB (Mother of All Bloom) and told him to give that out when/if they run out of shooting powder between orders, saying that is just as good. My grow shop guy gave it all to me though (haha). I love my local shop! Its always good to make friends with you local grow shop owners/managers (the 30% discount and price matching doesn't hurt either). I found liters of Amino Treatment online for about $130 and they dropped my price to $130 minus my 30% ($91). Also, use H&G nutrient calculator online (house-garden.us). It has the most up-to-date measurements. The charts says 3.8ml/gal of Amino Treatment, but the calculator puts it at 2.5ml/gal now.
