I typically normally grow in soil with absolutely fantastic results in my basement. Now I switched to coco to give that a try with new set of nutes (Canna brand) I am not liking the results I see so far in early veg

    Temperature - 78
    Humidity - 60%
    LED lights

    1 gallon plastic pot
    ProMix CC
    Tap water - 100-120 ppm
    Canna A + B
    Total PPM - 600
    PH - 5.9

I'm seeing stunted growth and purple stems on all 9 plants. The leaves are not as dark as they should be and look like slight magnesium deficiency as well.

I was originally supplementing cal mag to make the water 250 ppms total, stems were getting purple and I saw a couple of leaves show phosphorus deficiency. I flushed with low ppm A and B and now I'm feeding them without calmag at all. But it seems like nothing is working. They are stunted with purple stems.

I followed the directions with this nutrient brand I am absolutely stumped. Is my tap water no good I need to switch to RO + cal/mag? I have grown plants before in coco with FloraFlex salts at high EC with RO water + Calmag with great results so I am absolutely stumped that this is happening with a more expensive nutrient line. Anyone give me any advice here?

  2. Maybe try bumping up the feed to around 900 including tap? That's what I feed at with Jacks 321 with a similar tap ppm. Also make sure you are feeding to ~10% runoff, your ph pen is calibrated, etc.

I'd also avoid liquid nutes. Rather than paying for expensive water, you're better off buying 25 lb bags of salts and making your own concentrated stock solutions. I can understand not wanting to commit to that much if you're still trying things out, but if you decide you want to keep growing in coco that'd be the way.

  3. 600 ppm plus about 300 ppm calmag should do it. Your ph is good, Tap water is fine.
