Using an Airstone

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by Grow Queen, May 14, 2020.

  1. When using an Airstone to dechlorinate water, should I leave the top off the container that holds the water or cover it?

  2. an air stone wont de-chlorinate water. it moves the water around inside the reservoir and keeps nutrients from settling / keeps the water from stagnating. chlorine will naturally evaporate over time from the water. leave the reservoir uncovered for a day or 2, to help with that.

  3. Leave it open. Other gases will dissipate as well. Are you sure you have chlorine in your water and not chloramine. The second is commonly used in many systems and does not dissipate, at least not quickly

  4. Than you for clearing that up for me

  5. Aeration of the water will greatly speed up the dechlorinization process.....within a few hours rather than 24 without aeration

  7. No problem and yes leave it uncovered

  8. I'm confused about the use of air stones in a res. I've read so many posts from people saying not to use them. So air stones or no air stones in the res? If no, I'm really curious as to why and how you keep your nutes oxygenated. And I don't think airstones help to dechlorinate water. I have never used them for this purpose. Don't cover your container; instead, try to make small holes In your box to drain out extra water.

  9. I was speaking of a 40 gallon water container, that has a cover, using the airstone to airate the water as recommended with my soil, and letting it sit for 48 hours before using. it may or may not help but I like it and my plants are happy!
