Using Alcohol Spritz after decarbing?

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by OrangeAlice, Dec 22, 2019.

  1. So, I've decarbed at 220 for 50 minutes and have spritzed with high grade alcohol. I've noticed many of the recipes used on this forum do NOT use water in a crock pot with no post straining of product! If I've used the alcohol, will I lose much canabanoid if I use water with my butter and ground, decarbed bud? I think I want to avoid the fibre in my edibles.
And also, the lecithin...can I avoid the "glob" by using the lecithin differently?. I briefly saw a thread describing sprinkling the lecithin and then reheating in the oven for 20 minutes but would this then be added to the crock with the water and butter? Can someone comment on this please? If the "glob" is unavoidable, do I just mix that back into the butter and use the ugly mess?
Would rather not use butter with all the weed fibre remaining as I get a bit of stomach upset.
    Cheers barb

  2. It takes a lot of oil to strip cannabinoids.

Ardent, maker of the decarb device Nova/Lift got a lab-tested 80% infusion efficiency using 1 g herb in 1 oz oil.
    For 15% thc herb,
    Potency = (0.8)* (150 mg THC)/(30 mL) = 4 mgTHC/mL
    1 drop ~ 4 mg / 30 = 0.13 mg/drop
To get a potency of 1 mg/drop would require using about 1/8 that much oil.
I'd expect closer to 50% efficiency using that little strained oil, but that's only an opinion.

Many of us believe that adding germ-friendly water to herb, is a mistake.
Instead, I'd advise using BrassNwood's excellent infusion method of 40 min @ 220 F, and no water.

Stomachs vary dramatically in their abilities to handle whole herb.
My own experience is that the more spread out the herb is, the less it bothers mine.
The cannabinoids themselves, and/or other things that long soaks pick up, make strained tincture about as stomach unfriendly as whole herb cookies.

  4. The best method you'll find here is BrassNwood's.
If you can handle eating whole herb in edibles, then that's the simplest, most efficient thing to do.
Spritzing with alcohol is of dubious value.

Here's an edible you can make in 1.5 hours, and it will be potent. It's an unauthorized version of BrassNwood's excellent method.
    1. Decarb 1 gram flower @ 240 F for 40 min.
    2. Grind to fine powder.
    3. Combine herb powder, 1 gram lecithin, and 15 grams nutella or nut butter (1 extra gram for waste).
    4. Quickly pre-heat to 220 F on a stove top, then bake at that temp for 40-60 minutes. 60 min is slightly sleepier than 40 min.
    5. Spread a weighed amount onto anything, and eat.

Each gram of this will contain about 10 mg thc.
It won't taste good, but it's very effective.
As more infusion happens over time, this gets slightly better.
