Urgent: Dog Advice

  1. There's this dog in front if my house that looks injured. It can barely move and it's just laying there. It seems to have trouble breathing. What do I do?

I put some water next to it, hoping it's just thirsty.

Should I call animal control? It's been around since last night and it didn't belong to anyone around here.

  2. Do you see any blood or injury? might of gotten hit by a car, be careful when you approach as it might confuse you with danger and might attack. slow and deliberate movements only!

if you call animal control they will likely put him down, you should look around your local area for any nonprofit animal shelters/hospitals

  3. Seriously !
You're coming on here asking what to do.

Erm call the RSPCA or some other charity or a bloody vet.
If it hadn't moved and isn't breathing properly I'd hazard a guess and say it's in serious need of urgent professional help.

  4. You should definitely call animal control dude. That dog is clearly not well.

  5. Just put him in your house and give him some water and snacks like meat or something if you don't have dog treats. Then call a vet or something. Please tell if the dog is alright.

  6. Thanks for the replies guys. I went back outside and I couldn't tell if it had some water or not, but it had already wandered off. I assume it was a stray since it didn't have a collar.

I haven't seen it around my neighborhood either, so I guess someone picked it up? It was in my backyard then in front of my house, so I think it was just tired and dehydrated.

Don't dogs pant instead of sweat?

360 joints in my body and not one in my pocket.

  7. Dogs sweat through their feet.
Glad it's been rescued though. Well hope it has lol

  8. Go up to it. Whats his mechanism of injury, or nature of illness? determine his level of counciousness. What's your general impression of the patient? Is he big sick or little sick? Next check his airway. Is he breathing adequately to support life? Or if the airway is closed, or the patient is apneic open the airway with the head-tilt, chin lift or modified jaw thrust if c-spine precautions are needed. Next asses the pulse. Check for rate, strength and regularity. If no pulse begin CPR and attach an AED. Shock if advised. Next locate and control any major bleeding and begin shock treatment if signs of shock are apparent in the patient. Determine patient priority for immediate transport.

  9. Old-school version of how to treat a dog that has been badly injured: One bullet to the head.

  10. Is this the dog the other dude hit with his car the other day? Wouldn't it be weird if it is?

  11. Lol. Give the dog a .22 caliber pill?

  12. Haha, doubt it. What are the chances?

  13. Check if it's penis is swollen

  14. if its dying call a vet maybe it was hit by a car take it to a vet yourself or find the owner? preferable a no kill option but if the dog is sick or hurt too badly getting put down is the best bet but hopefully last option.

  15. Thats what happens round here. Completely legal too says the animal control guy.
