Upgrades I made to my growbox

  1. Hey everyone,

Just posting about a few upgrades i made to my grow box, firstly a mate of mine gave me some advice about the aluminium foil that i was using to line the walls and reflect the light. Apparently something about the foil changes the spectrum of light so that when you have warm white bulbs in it changes it to cool white this essentially confuses your plants. So what I've done is taken out all the foil and painted the whole cupboard white inside. I bought some flat white paint and mixed in a adative that stops mold from being able to grow on the surface.
I also put in two new computer fans to provide more ventilation as i was having a bit of trouble with temp.

any feedback or comments are more than welcome,
    cheers

  2. ok right account :), more like aluminum foil is a metal, a.k.a a conductor. If you want to turn your grow into a Easy Bake Oven featuring Cannabis on the menu. you are worried about mold? if that problem even crossed your mind, more exhaust/bigger fan

  3. It doesn't change the spectrum as much as it weakens the intensity of light being reflected. Any wrinkle in the foil and its going to be counter productive.

Let me see if I can break it down for u. Light leaves ur bulb and shines on ur babys. The amount of light that doesn't have a direct path will travel the extra foot reflect off travel the foot again to ur plants. Now physics says that the longer light travels the less intense it gets.

This is were the foil messes u up. Light travels reflects on a wrinkle goes to the floor, instead of ur plants. Anywhere else the light goes that isn't ur plants is a waste.

  4. yeah thanks for the advise, and snowcangrow, im only using cfl lightbulbs which dont put out to much heat and have 5 fans total in this box. There's no chance of my plants cooking - even with the aluminium foil- it sits on 26-28oC. I was only having trouble with the lighting not the heat
