With the debt crisis in Europe (or more accurately, Armageddon), it seems that the Eurozone is going to fail. I believe that the best way to make the single currency work is to become a true federation in which there is a central political authority to rein in the spending of certain countries (eg PIGS--Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain). It will probably happen eventually, but I'm wondering how soon you think it will be? Hopefully within my lifetime.
Let it fail! Fuck this bullshit! I want my guilders back. Before 2000 you could buy a pack of cigarettes with a single, thick, heavy, awesome coin. Now there's money that feels like toilet paper and will soon be worth the same as toilet paper. Europe isn't the United States. You can't just lump all these vastly different cultures together in one big economy. Why the FUCK do I have to pay for the Greek economy failing? I feel more connected to Morocco and Turkey than I do to Greece.
Either way, somebody is going to pay for Greece et al. Either they get a bailout from the Eurozone (but much larger than what is currently being talked about) or they default and the world economy goes into recession/depression. At this point it's a sunk cost; we can't go back in time and stop Greece from accumulating 150% its GDP in debt. We can only look to the future. I think you are right though--the Euro will fail and I don't think a federate Europe is on its way any time soon. But eventually I think it will happen. It will need a ton of political leadership though, which is something the World lacks desperately right now.
Somebody is going to, sure. But only because we are dependant on them because we share the same idiotic currency that should never have existed in the first place. I have NEVER in my life heard anyone speak positively about the Euro as a currency, except politicians. Europe will never be ruled under one government. The European people won't have that. I'm already angry at the way the European Union can influence sovereign countries. Why would I want the decisions about MY country to be made by someone from Poland, Italy or the UK? Fuck that. If a federal government ever arises in Europe, and a resistance is formed, I will join them and fight that government until death.
I agree although I would add that you can't lump all the states together like we have it now in Amurika. Why do I have to pay for California's economy failing?
Yup, localize!!!! Ron Paul seems to share your idea. I don't want to be the next USA. If you centralize a government that government will be far too powerful. And power = corruption is most cases.
This thread should get more posts... it's very interesting to me. JamesBoned, why exactly would you like to see a federal European government?
If the world changes to any currency it won't be the US dollar, the US owes so much to China it's not feasable and China won't allow it.
So the Euro is a failed experiment, and your solution is more centralization? A Central Bank cannot manage a currency for 17 nations, and you think giving these idiots control over taxes and spending in these countries is going to fix it? There is no escaping a depression at this point, the world's central banks have printed more funny money then they know what to do with. Federalizing Europe will only kick the inevitable depression further down the road, and take away Europeans civil liberties all in one. Central Economic Planning is a failure, just ask the Soviet Union.
I hope that doesn't happen, the Eurozone was built on lies and has failed. Why should the hard working Northern European countries like France and Germany pay for irresponsibility of Greece. Also, as has been said, how could you possibly unite a continent that had been in a state of basically constant warfare until 150 years ago, the cultural differences alone between European countries are so vast. A single economic union isn't working, going a step further isn't going to solve the problem. I wish Cameron had allowed a referendum on Europe.

I know him. He speaks out against the Bilderberg group, which is good. But we still have our own countries, our own constitutions and our own flags.
For now we do. It seems to me that we are headed for the same fate as the European nations. Alan Watt said in one of his interviews that the globalists have achieved so many of their goals and objectives already that there is nothing to stop them from taking this plan all the way to fruition which is complete domination of humanity and all its resources.
No dude; more centralization. Everything will be centralized and controlled by an oligarchy or an autocracy, God forbid. That is the trend. It's already a policy put in place. Here, this is how it works. Wait, I'm confused. When you say "we", do you mean Europe or the US? Because if the US would be more like Europe, it would mean less centralization for the US. In Europe we don't have a federal government.
Im pretty sure maxrule is talking about merging the US with Mexico and Canada. Federalizing the north american continent itself rather then the U.S ...
