So I have decided to send her into flowering, as I'm running out of space FAST...I think I need many more lights tho, I hope it is not to late to get some. I also made the mistake of cutting about 6 or 7 huge fan leaves......I should have researched first....hoping I ddnt tramatize her too much.... just hoping for the best at this point
Wow, what a nice plant. Yes get more lights on her asap, 2700k. It does look bare. Maybe some light bonsai might have done a little better for her, but hey, cant tell without trying. She did take off fast though once you got her going. Nice. Take a peak http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1221460-Cfl-Box-Grow,-Round-#2#entry18148508
Oh ok, thank you, what is light bonsai? I also decided to throw her back into veg for another two weeks to help thicken her out....I had her in flowering schedule for 6 days...I have read this shld be ok.....here is a pic with the 6500k lights I switched her back with.....I also added 3 more 23 actual watt 100w equivalents this morning....... still hoping for the best
I'm impressed at what you've achieved here. Well done and keep up the hard work. Soon you will reep the rewards of your work. Sent from my HTC Desire using Grasscity Forum mobile app
What i meant by light bonsai, was to do some bonsai on it, lightly. Its trimming leaves without taking all the leaves away. On a shorter bushier plant it would open up the inside to allow more light into the middle. Many people will agree/disagree, give you hell for doing it or praise you. Mostly a matter of choice. Personnaly, it worked well for me. In a sense, it works similar to supercropping, pinching n twisting a stalk to force energy and nutrients to a particular area, but with leafs. Its a little more gentle than just chopping some leaves off here and there to get light in.
Oh ok, I see. Thank you for the explanation. Yes I cut some of the bigger fan leaves off a cpl weeks back....I'm not sure if I did more damage or not....she is bushy on the bottom and bare on top so idk.....
On the big fan leaves, just keep the middle blade and trim off the rest. I try to keep more of the lower areas that dont get good light and only grow puffy whisps of bud trimmed.
Check and see if they may just fall off when you touch them. Are they crispy nutes or lights? If you get worried about them, you could always just trim the ends of the blades just after the crisped part, give it a day or two and then check to see if its worsened. Yellowing, fo the most part, is a nitrogen problem. The closer to thr plants hatvest time, it will burn up the nitrogen it has stored in itself, and then die off and fall. Similar to foliage on a tree in Autumn. BUT, it also is a sign of lockout/defficiency in a younger plant, especially if the blades are crispy also. If thats the case, a good flushing may be in need??
Btw, im no expert(never claimed to be one either), only 27 years(off and on) experience in growing cannabis, still learning new stuff every year. Im sure someone else will chime in. Weigh your options, do a little research, some nice charts are out there. One thing i DO know, you will get better and better as your experience grows. In no way do i want to discourage you, im hoping you have a succesfull grow. Remember, if its good enough for you, who gives a rats ass if not good enough for them
Thank you for your input...this is my first grow ever. So I'm completely open to whatever is going to help me improve They are crisping and yellowing....not all of the leaves....just on the bottom....and then I think a cple for burned from my lights I will have to post pics
So I included pics.....I think the yellowing and crisping is due to age....and some kind of deficiency....? I started from seed the end of may....still veg.....I included a pic of the younger one planted a few weeks back....not sure what to do with her when I send the older one into flowering........I really appreciate the feedback and input.....I'd be lost! ....excuse my ratchet setup.....like I said, first grow ever...gotta use what I have lol
Wow vegging a long time. Any ideas when and how you want to flower?? May as well flower both at same time.
Yea....thats what I was thinking at this point....flower them both at the same time....which means I have to give it about 3 more weeks...eeeek....... ....wondering how big my big one will be
Will use cfls as I already have about 20 2700k 23 actual watt bulbs....hopefully that will be enough....I've made a ton of mistakes this first go round, but I've learned...am learning a lot.....going to flower these two....harvest....cure....get my grow area correct and try again.....but...one step at a time
Look on Amazon, the have some great cfls... 65 Watts that shine like blazes. 4 of them vegged 6plants nicely Sent from my ADR6350 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I would have a small fan blowing on your plants to help with heat and strengthen the stems. What are your temps and PH run off?
Ok, I can grab a smaller fan....I figured her stem was pretty strong w out one. I hvnt got a ph meter so I'm not sure about run off..... HEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!! Is she pre flowering?? I hvnt switched her to 12/12 yet......are those balls?? every time I think they are, I check the nxt day and they are just new sets of baby leaves......first grow. I thought I'd seen enough pics to be able to tell but I thought wrong I guess.........help me please THANK YOU!! I posted in a how to tell sex forum, but I'm a tad impatient.. ..I dnt want to start to flower only to find out yes indeed hers a him....smh
