ufc vs. boxing

  1. just wondering wut the general consensus is...I personally prefer a good boxing match I think it takes more skill to out box a person than to throw an elbow in someones face and KO them...but that doesnt mean I dont enjoy a good UFC beatdown.

  2. i just recently got into ufc, but a good boxing max is always nice. but ufc is so much more brutal.

  3. i enjoy watching both, but sometimes boxing matches can get boring

speaking of boxing did anybody see the hatton vs. mayweather fight tonight? now that was a good fight

  4. i could make the argument that it takes more skill to deal with mma, not only do you have to out box, but out grapple and wrestle, while watching out for knees, kicks, elbows, backhands, takedowns, and submissions.

i love boxing and mma equally btw.

  5. yup, now I'm watching a replay of the UFC tonight so thats y I decided to ask. mayweather cleaned that fools clock with the corner post hahaha

  6. I watched the fight tonight. I knew Mayweather was going to win. That fight was over when it started and Hatton, after the 6th round, was just trying not to embarass himself. Hatton is better than de la Hoya but Mayweather might be the best ever.

  7. yea i was rooting for the underdog hatton but mayweather just out-skilled him that was a sick punch he landed on the first knockdown

  8. thats funny. de la hoya in his prime vs hatton....de la hoya for the win please

  9. Who said anything about his prime? Oscar is known as one of history's best, not taking anything away from him. That said, Mayweather is better and right now, so is Hatton. After 1999 for Oscar, he was done and that is a fact.

  10. me.

oscar has been done for a minute, hatton hasn't. no shit hatton is better right now.

  11. Hatton could beat Oscar right now. And in his prime, he'd give him a hell of a fight. Hatton is lining himself up nicely right now.

  12. well I'd put money on de la hoya in his prime. title after title (amature/olympic and pro) and big name headlines...hatton:confused: sure only 1 loss but what major ground has he broken?

  13. im pretty sure floyd is the best pure boxer i have ever seen. That being said hatton is his toughest opponent ever and floyd looked very awkward at times because of hattons style. In the end hatton got knocked the F*** OUT!

    very impressed with floyd tonight

  14. Id rather watch a really good bout than MMA

however id much rather watch any level MMA than a poor boxing match

  15. i want to see mayweather's cocky ass put his fists where his mouth is and take on a UFC fighter...I bet a versatile UFC fighter can take down any boxer, as long as said UFC fighter doesnt try and stand toe-to-toe the entire fight.

in my opinion, a veteran mma fighter like hughes, penn, st pierre, silva (andersen), etc, would dominate the best boxer out there (currently mayweather). and with floyd talking his game, id love to see him get his face smashed and arm barred.

  16. Hell, I wish Mayweather had an extra 50-60 lbs on him so he could fight Chuck Liddell. THat muthafucka would KTFO, for sure. MMA > Boxing. period. Especially given the state of boxing nowadays. 400,000 different belts in 15 different weight classes, the sport's a mess. Even if the quality of talent WAS up to where it was 15 years ago, no one would really know it, because everyone fights in different federations. Boxing is damn near dead, and MMA is on the rise. MMA is far more technical, IMO, even thought boxing is the "sweet science," you've got the same 6 punches, PLUS hundreds of grapples, submissions, etc. A technical jiu juitsu match is every bit as entertaining as a stand up battle, once you've been watching the sport long enough to really start to understand the little nuances and whatnot of the grappling. MMA is awesome. Boxing used to be, and is now just alright.

  17. ya i really think somebody from boxing needs to step-up and end all this mma-boxing BS
They could give them 3 (or some amount of time) months to train for a boxing match. Have the boxer beat up on the MMA guy
Then give them another 3 months to train and have the mma guy twist up the boxer

But a boxer would tear up an mma specialist in the ring, and an mma guy would destroy any boxer in an mma fight.

I think the MMA specialist would last much longer in the ring than the boxer would last in the cage.

  18. Ya i got the fight, 55 bucks outta the wallet

I felt as if he was worried when hatton came out strong and basically gave mayweather an opponent with some skill he hasn't seen before. Mayweather seemed kinda happy after the fight...possibly because he was scared he was going to lose - obvisiously if hatton didn't slack down around the 6th...Hatton jumped on him when the starting bell rung - I think if he would of paced himself, he could handle mayweather...

I'd like to see a rematch, but I highly doubt that - Mayweather claims hes done, the dude is fucking 30 years old - Hopkins is 40+ and trying to get outta the boxing ring.

  19. lol...btw buddy they have all been around for thousands of years...good luck though thinking one will diminish

  20. I am a kick boxer, like boxing and fighting in general. While boxing takes a great deal more patience, knowledge, timing, and preparation, nothing gets my testosterone flowing like blood covering the floor of the octagon!
