UEA is University of East Anglia bro. Jones is the person single most responsible for the 'scientific consensus' behind global warming over the last 20 years, and was one of the senior most editors for the UN's IPCC's AR4 report.

Phil Jones is to global warming science what Elvis is to music. This is a really big deal.

If you remove Phil Jones' work, there becomes absolutely no scientific basis remaining (as if there was in the first place) for global warming, anthropogenic or otherwise.

You realize he is the single most important global warming alarming scientist on the planet, right, and the person that has most been pushing global warming for decades now, right?

He is the one that gathered, compiled, and reached conclusion from the evidence... which he admits has been conveniently lost or destroyed, but upon reconsideration of the (missing) evidence he has concluded there has been no warming for 15 years.

There is no evidence. He is the person that destroyed the evidence.

 

It seriously hurts the anthropogenic climate change theory. I think this is the first alarmist to admit there have been other warming periods before the industrial revolution.

 

By some counts he is also the most cited scientist in the world when it comes to the field of climate change.

 

I think it's wise to create the technology necessary to control our planets climate, regardless of why it changes. We require a very specific habitat to live, and it doesn't take a genius to know that nothing lasts forever.

Of course, the attitude of the 21st century is that if it's not going to directly effect us or our near future relatives then who gives a shit? Does nobody give a shit about humanity 1,000 years from now?

Okay so right now it's cold, so I'm with the naysayers for the time being... but it's going to get warm again, I think. By March I predict major global warming in the northern hemisphere. By July, the polar bears will all turn brown.

Seriously though, there are seasons, there are years, sunspot cycles over 12 year periods, hell, the earth has cyclical orbital patterns on a 40,000 year scale, not to mention all the other crazy shit that can and does affect our weather.

It doesn't matter whether or not the planet is getting hotter or colder in the short run... that's not what we should be focusing or prioritizing... Go for a swim in that giant plasti-trash bog in the middle of the pacific ocean and come back singing the same tune. And tell it to the 1000 species we wipe off the face of the planet each year, please.

Bottom line is we've fucked up and exploited/polluted/demolished a good portion of OUR environment, the one from whence we sprung, in the short time we've been at work. Keep pumping carbon into the atmosphere, see what happens. The Siberian traps were no joke, either.
