The Obama administration is proposing to scale back a long-standing ban on tracking how people use government Internet sites with "cookies" and other technologies, raising alarms among privacy groups.

A two-week public comment period ended Monday on a proposal by the White House Office of Management and Budget to end a ban on federal Internet sites using such technologies and replace it with other privacy safeguards. The current prohibition, in place since 2000, can be waived if an agency head cites a "compelling need."

    What justifies "compelling needs"?

    Shhh. uncle Obama's listening.......

  2. No this doesn't resemble fascism.

  3. It just seems Obama and Bush have a lot more in common than most people would like to admit.

  4. It sure seems that way and it is no coincidence.

There is no more right to privacy or any other rights by individuals because that right has been superceded by the rights of humanity and the common good.

It feels good to know a thing or two. :bongin:

"Fascism is a form of socialism that retains all the forms and trappings of capitalism but not its substance."

  5. That site is RICH.

  6. For all I know, the government could already be monitoring our internet use in ways we don't even know about. Is there anything we can really do about it? Fuck If I know.. ..

    :(

  7. Well, Google (which remember owns Youtube and Myspace) stores all search queries + IP's indefinitely and reads all your Gmail emails. And I've always wondered who the real people behind tracking viruses/cookies actually are - given that we know from statements made by the UN that the internet is considered something that needs to be regulated and controlled it's not too far of a stretch to assume that this regulation and control is already being pursued... albeit illegally.

  8. Yessir the internet is like the the saloons during the French Revolution. A private space where information and ideas can be exchanged. No wonder why Rupert Murdoch (owner of FOX) will charge for News by next summer. The powers of free speech are only multiplied by the net and it has the TPTB scared shitless. The net will be regulated soon unless the people express otherwise.

  9. in simplest terms, the thing about the Internet that scares the fuck out of the politicians is information. Just as it says in the bible "what is done in the dark will be bought to the light", politicians cant hide anymore. Because of the Internet more and more people are beginning to see whats up. Now people are angry and asking tough questions, questions that the politicians would rather not answer. Politics will never be the same

  10. I've always thought it best to assume you're being watched all the time anyway.

As each day passes it seems to me like we need to get the torches and pitchforks ready sometime soon.

  11. This is WRONG. Ron Paul needs to introduce an internet privacy and freedom act!
