U.S. student in Russia faces more charges Additional charges have been filed against an American student arrested in Russia for using and selling marijuana. John Tobin, a Fulbright scholar, faces an additional charge of being part of a drug-dealing ring, which carries a possible prison sentence of up to 15 years. Tobin's lawyer, Vladimir Kulinich, said police had not arrested or questioned any members of the alleged ring. Tobin, 24, of Ridgefield, Conn., was detained Feb. 1 for possessing 0.15 ounces of marijuana at a nightclub in Voronezh, about 300 miles south of Moscow. Russia's Federal Security Service also said Tobin had ties to U.S. intelligence services. No espionage charges have been filed. 10A-TUESDAY, MARCH 27,2001-USA TODAY
