U. N. = Useless Nations?

Months and months of hearings, fact-finding, and discussions with Iran came to a temporary conclusion of a bunch of worthless sanctions that will barely slow down the development of nuclear arms, let alone stop it. Over the past 10-20 years, the U.N. has become increasingly ineffective in handling any sort of world-wide threat. Iran and North Korea, probably the two most dangerous countries to the rest of the world, have been slapped on the wrist for something that could lead to the loss of millions of lives, possibly the end of the world as we know. In a military sense, is the U.N. even a threat anymore? Most of their troops are taken from U.S. military branches, and it seems like a slap on the wrist is as far as they will go to take out a possible threat.

  2. the UN is encumbered by it's sheer size.

Thats why organizations such as NATO are more effective.
