ok every bong ive been interested ive come to these forums did a search and was scared away from all of them now im completly confused on what bong to get. i have a few inquiries and would like some help with decidng a bong. my latest choice was gonna be a black leaf perc bong with a splash gaurd and i was gonna buy a carbon filter and a percbowl to attatch to it. Now from my reading tell me if i understand this right, built in percs suck do to the difficulty of cleaning and the chances of it not working at all. unfortunetly im only looking to spend about $150. So from what i understand am i better off just getting a strait tube with a nice diffuser and then buying a perc atachment with my carbon filter? Am i understanding this right? any help will apreciated with rep+ or any suggestions on bongs
In that price range I'd prolly say go for the straight tube. Its not that percs aren't worth it, they definitely smooth the smoke out. Just in that price range the percs you can get tend to be pretty draggy, which i can't stand
You don't attach percs you attach ash catchers. That being said, a nice glass on glass straight with a good diffuser and no percs or ash catchers should be fine and in your price range.
Yes you do. Ash catchers come with 3 arm diffuers, 4 arm diffusers, showerheads, gridded shower heads. If they were just ash catchers there would be no differing forms of diffusion that come with it, and no need for water. Your arguing semantics by saying "its not a perc" That being said, this place is scary man. Mostly what you hear from this place is "if it doesnt costs more than 300 dollars, its garbage" All i want to know is this. Are you trying to get high? or are you trying to impress us with what you buy? People here care way to much about drag, and they put off there personal opinions as "lack in quality" in the piece. I've seen the difference between zero drag, and some drag. its not the end of the world. dont worry. You want a perc in your bong? go buy a perc bong. I wouldnt black leaf because its just too cheap for my taste. Its not much worse than Weedstar, but I can afford weedstar products so I buy them. I dunno why people say percs are hard to clean. I never had a problem cleaning mine. you just cant get the interior of the tree PERFECTLY clean. ::shrugs:: So I say to you, either buy a Weedstar illusion with 1 or 2 percs. They even have a new higher quality line of their Illusion's. you really dont need a pre-cooler when theres a perc in the tube, so just the carbon filter would be best. Or go buy a molino 7mm straight tube. And get a nice ash catcher for it.
This forum is very very "snooty" (for lack of a better word) about bongs. Personally, if it's smooth, it looks nice and it cools my hit, I'm happy. No reason you shouldn't be too. Bongs shouldn't be about how much money can you spend, it should be about getting you high cleanly and efficiently. Anyways, thats just my 2 cents...
For real, don't let all the wackos around here spook you. You can get fine stuff for that price. People on glass forums like to bitch about the tiniest of frivolities and have bizarre problems that nobody you are likely to meet in real life will ever have outside of perhaps the waiting room of a psychiatrists office. I bought a layback inline GonG, 6 arm tree perc, with a splash guard and ice catch. The exact same model as the one here sold at gc by "biohazard" for 180 dollars. Its in fine condition, every inch of it works, and I have to use flower shaped glass screens as opposed to tri-prong to give it the amount of drag I like. I'm sure to most people here its got 101 problems but in real life me and everyone thats hit it can't find one. Unless you have OCD or something you're probably worrying for nothing. Just my .02
yeah u would be very happy with a straight tube with no percs since they are easy to break during cleaning (i broke mine) and they add drag, but do smooth the smoke, so ya straight tube and attachment of a perc with carbon filter wud be a good choice -carbon filter to keep the attachment perc clean
If it was me I would go for a glass on glass straight tube. You could easily get one for under your price range and then you might even be able to buy a diffuser. I just got a 50 dollar straight tube thats about 24 inches and glass on glass and its actually decent haha. Alot of it is hunting around for what your want
Well semantics are pretty important in this case. It's just what it's called. The name is whatever kind of "perc" is in it. You call it a "nine arm a/c" or a "three arm ash catcher" or whatever. If it is built into the bong then you refer to it as a perc. At least that's the way I've always heard and read it...
what about this bong? http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/A/L/ALT_2010-10-11-201.jpg http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/A/L/ALT_2010-10-11-202.jpg http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/A/L/ALT_2010-10-11-198.jpg
If I was going to spend 150 on a bong.... Molino 7mm Alex K showerhead Roor Carbon Filter (30 Dollars over budget, get this when you can afford it.)
i agree with you.i just have a 25$ bong i bought from happy dayz. i dont see any point in spending a lot of money on a bong.
$160 http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/302x/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/A/L/ALT-10-09-25-27.jpg SYN - TALL 50 X 5 mm STRAIGHT TUBE - RASTA TALL STRAIGHT THREE ICE PINCHES SLIDE JOINT: 14 mm SLIDE: 14 mm CLEAR PUSH SLIDE INCLUDED DOWNSTEM: 14/18 mm LOW PRO DIFFUSED DOWNSTEM INCLUDED DOWNSTEM LENGTH FROM TOP OF GROUND JOINT TO DIFFUSED BOTTOM: 4.0" INCHES HEIGHT: 18.5" INCHES TALL TUBE DIAMETER: 50 mm GLASS THICKNESS: 5 mm STRAIGHT BASE DIAMETER: 5.0" INCHES LABEL: SYN LARGE VERTICAL RASTA LABEL INCLUDED MADE IN NORTH CAROLINA
I was like you at first too, I ordered a weedstar bent neck tube, and after i placed the order, I read a lot of stuff about how weedstar sucks, how it's poorly made, and how easily it would break etc. so I'm like, Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck... I bet that shit is gonna arrive broken. and it's gonna hit like shit, and it's gonna break if I even LOOK at it wrong... gah... but when I got it, Sweet jesus, this thing is awesome. gets me high every single time, banged it a few times and no cracks/chips at all, gets my friends high every time, hits as smooth as any $10000000000000000 STRAIGHT TUBE with slit diffuser. it might break when it'll fall from 4-5ft, but so would most bongs, regardless of price. all for like $31. regarding the topic, I would look into the Inline Nautilus. inline perc, glass looks sturdy (5mm) and costs like $70
dude get the carbon filter. that should be like #1 on your list if you're getting a bong. i saw them online but didnt want to pay for one so i started making my own and selling them to my friends. i have all sorts now that are 14 to 18 mm adapters and regular 18 mm ones. i can use almost any slide or a/c i want and always have carbon filtration. keeps your bong looking brand new and you never get pieces of nug in your diffuser or bong
Hey whitie, here's my thoughts on what you should do. First off, let me say that every single person will post his or her opinion on whether percolators are worth it or not in a certain bong, etc. Therefore, in the end, it always comes down to personal preference. Now. That being said, I do believe you are talking about the beaker base Black Leaf Elite bong with the percolator and splash guard available here on the Grasscity online shop. One major thing to think about when getting a bong with a perc is whether the tube has a beaker base(which in this case it does) or is a straight tube. Straight tubes clear much faster and easier, but hit you harder, while beaker bases will give you a more "steady" and solid feeling clear with the addition of a slightly smoother feeling smoke due to the greater water volume in the beaker base. Another thing people say is that percs are very annoying and difficult to clean, but from my experience, there's nothing a bottle of Grunge-Off won't solve. Like I mentioned before, in the end, it really comes down to what you are looking for. I see that you mentioned about getting an ashcatcher along with the carbon filter. The added weight from the ash-catcher and the carbon filter, plus whatever else you want to attach to your piece might prompt you to get a beaker base, as they are more stable. One piece of mind from me here. An ash-catcher plus a carbon filter may not be necessary. In fact, I'd recommend that you forget the ash-catcher and save yourself some money and just stick with the carbon filter. Why? Because if you let your hits cherry out (in other words, milking the bud for as long as it will burn) instead of "pulling it through," then you will have eliminated the need for the ash catcher, as the ash stays in the slide. Not to mention that you stretch out your green that much too. Why waste good bud? The carbon filter would also keep the bong clean so you wouldn't have to worry about cleaning the percs anyway. Also keep in mind that if you do decide to go WITHOUT the ash-catcher, then the drag on the bong will be reduced significantly, so you wouldn't have to worry about the drag associated with a percolated beaker based bong. Hope you got all that mate. Just remember above all else, it's all personal preference. If you have any questions, let me know. -THChild
This is how I take "snaps." I hate when kids pack up a ton then suck like a vacuum like it's a chore or something. Using the above method you can get a nice buzz off like .15 of dank in a good glass on glass straight. Even less.
it remains a mystery to me as to how people cannot figure out quality on their own. i knew nothing about bongs and i settled with a HVY that i love... shit has lasted me six months. you get what you pay for
