Living abroad I don't have access to the wide range of nutrient-products (import restrictions), and purchased a general hydroponics nutrient branded HydroHobby. It is a standard A+B nutrient solution: Add A, wait 4 hours, then add B.

Two weeks into flowering my plants seem fine, however how do I top-up the reservoir?

Do I have to mix the nutrient with water before top-up, or can I just add the concentrated nutrients directly into the existing solution in the reservoir? (I have a DTS meter installed and can read the existing EC/ppm values from the reservoir).

I ask because there are no specifics given for a top-up procedure.

    Thank you very much.

  2. There are problems associated with adding concentrates. Some interact poorly with others in concentrated form and either neutralize one or jell the other. It would help if you knew what was in part A and B. Calcium is the bad actor and also any silica. You may be able to add a batch of A to the res and then 4 hours later add a batch of B, not sure, wouldn't be much more trouble just to make a batch properly and add it to res. I have no experience with bonafide 2 parts with directions. So it's not even 2 cents worth. I have made jelly out of nutrients however.

  3. Very helpful, Talkative - thank you! I did not have the necessary knowledge about the impact of mixing concentrates directly into the reservoir. I am in the process of preparing a fresh new batch as I write this, following the regular procedure.
