Two 400W HPS

  1. Would two 400W HPS systems work for about 10 plants? And can someone explain to me how the lighting works, for example, I have two plants under one 400W vs I have 2 plants under one 1000W. Would the plants under 1000W produce more than the ones under 400W?

  2. 400 watt hps produces 32000 lumens--1000watter will produce 110-120000 lumens. I like 1000 watters personally. Might want to do some research on the products themselves and u will see the diffrence.

  3. Yeah but the reason I was thinking two 400w was because there is two lights and I can cover more area than one 1000w. It's going to be 8-10 plants. Someone please explain to me if im wrong, and how many plants can grow under one 400w vs how many under a 1000w.

  4. *sigh* if i only had og to reference
Okay to answer your question yes using 2 400 watt lights would provide a decent bit more lateral light coverage in your area how ever there are disadvantages to the this set up.
The 2 lights while covering a large amount of space are not as intense as one 1k watt light i will draw a very crappy pic just for reference.

lumen's = intensity and since the light from 2 400 watt lamps are less intense the light will not penetrate as deep into the plants as the 1k watt lamp so with the 1k watt lamp you will have more vertical coverage.

  5. Thanks, that was very helpful. So I guess I'll go with 1000w, now how many 1000w will be suitable for 10 plants? Or How many plants can you have under one 1000w?

  6. 2 600s would be a good option, for your setup and 400hps has an inital lumen output of 50000, not 32000 and 400 MH puts out 39000.

  7. i have under 3 x 600 watt 82 plants so 10 under 800 should work ;)
when you have enough room 2x 600 or 400 watt maby the best
