alright so what would be better/ would yield more for a scrog with an indica strain? if heat wasn't an issue. A- two 1000 watt hps covering a 7' x 4' area OR B- three 600 watt hps covering a 9' x 3' area
600w setups vs. 1000w setups as far as price goes, is about the same. I feel the same way about a light mover to get more light. For the price, you might as well get more light. I would go with the 1000's if heat is not an issue. It's just more lumens p/sq ft
I used to grow with 1000W'ers. Then my boy recommended 600W's and my life changed for the best. 1000W's are too much for low ceilings. You need high ceilings. They make too much localized heat. End of thread.
600w lights have more lumens per watt, and are therefore more efficient. I prefer dual-arc 1000w bulbs because you get the lumen efficiency of the 600w HPS and the spectrum of the 400w MH. Orange wavelengths grow heavier buds, and bluish spectrum produces significantly more trichomes. Given the choice I would grow with 1800watts instead of 2000. 90,000 lumens/600w HPS and 140,000 lumens/1000w HPS = 270,000 lumens for the 1800w and 280,000 lumens for the 2000w. The 600w are much easier to cool, and can be kept much closer to the plants, so the 270,000 lumens are much more usable than the 280,000. Food for thought.
i also read that the only advantage of 1000 watt lights is the light penetration so with a scrog it doesnt really matter right?
