Trying to pick next strain to grow after trip to Amsterdam -- thanks!

  1. Hi All,

Just got back from amsterdam for the first time, and I was able to answer a lot of questions about my taste in weed, but I'm still trying to get a clearer picture. I tried about 8 strains - Super Lemon Haze, Utopia Haze, Neville's Haze, Big Buddha Cheese, Cheese, Grape Ape, Tangerine Dream and Thai.

I thought based on what I've read that I really would like Hazes, but it really wasn't the case. I think I prefer indicas, but I'm still trying to figure that out.

Big Buddha Cheese was the clear winner for me (already ordered seeds). I felt immediate release of tension and an openness of mind (like the opposite of feeling claustrophobic if that makes sense). It was very relaxing and giggly--an easy ride and a classic high feel, without having a racing heart beat (like with the hazes and especially the thai), and also without putting me to sleep (like the Grape Ape). Tingly, and also fairly functional, but clearly high, not stoned and blurry.

I don't like trippy strains at all. Neville's Haze and Thai both had me tripping balls, feeling dizzy and nauseous. Not my thing. Utopia Haze was easier to handle, but not at night--too racy. Tangerine Dream was fine, but nothing like BBC in my brief samplings.

I can only grow one plant at a time, and I don't have much of a stash right now, so I want a strain that's good all around -- will relax my mind and body, won't be trippy at all or make my heart beat out of my chest, but also won't put me immediately to sleep (I had to take like 4 naps in parks in Adam after smoking Grape Ape). It's gotta be good for day and night -- not a pure energizer, and not a sleeper! Just a well rounded high!

    So in short--

Looking to understand my taste preferences based on these factors:

    1. Not looking for strongest strain, but best type of high (tension loosener, anti-anxiety/stress, mood changer).

    2. Looking for euphoric, but not heart thumping

    3. Not trippy at all

    4. Won't put you immediately to sleep, but could easily sleep if tired

    5. Similar to #4 -- would like to be somewhat functional for light daytime use, not an instant paralyzer - able to have sex would be great too...

I can also obviously do 2 harvests for slightly different effects, but have to have the right strain.

I ordered BBC seeds, but want to understand where to look next, and if I'm on the right track here...

Thanks to all those who read this far!! And hopefully there's some veterans out there who can recommend some strains!!! THANKS!

  2. Anybody? Any suggestions or confirmations of my thoughts on indicas... thanks!

  3. I like C99, also Blueberry with a sativa dom. I'm about to grow some OG Kush, Purple Wreck, and Kandy Kush...heard these were all really good strains, OG Kush being potent and purple wreck being the hybrid, more day time smoke you were talking about.

  4. Texada Timewarp

  5. I actually had some FMS c99 going but the heat wave a few weeks ago destroyed it while I was away. May have to order another...But I've since read a few reports of C99 being very trippy--did you experience any trippiness RooRgle?

  6. Hoping some of you veterans might have some guidance in terms of what strains/groups to look at (kush, skunk, etc.)... Thanks!

it doesn't sound like you want an indica to me. a true indica is a put you on your ass, couch lock high; similar to that of the grape ape. it sounds like you want a buzzy euphoric sativa. i have heard strawberry cough is an amazing anxiety reliever, muscle relaxer, while still being heavily sativa and providing that upbeat buzzy high you want.

and after a quick google search, it more or less confirms what i just said Strawberry Cough Marijuana Reviews - Leafly

there are a lot of factors that contribute to the characteristics of different strains. some of it has to do with how you grow it and some has to do with genetics. if you are already getting cheese seeds i would ride that out since you can only grow one plant though...

if you think you are an indica person though my favorites are hindu kush and afghooey, two amazingly sedating/relieving indicas.:smoke:

  8. Thanks for the suggestions!! I actually have looked at Strawberry Cough a bunch, but couldn't pull the trigger on it...it's definitely the next I'll be researching--I just remember a bunch of weak reviews on the Dutch Passion seeds....maybe I'm mistaken...

I guess I don't mind knock me on my ass indica as long as it doesn't put me to sleep like Grape Ape. It's gotta be fairly clear-headed, yet euphoric, which I know are traits often associated with sativas, but I don't want a high that sends me deep into thought about the meaning of life like most trippy sativas do to me...I want to clear my mind of excess thoughts and stresses, and only live in the moment in a relaxed state...

Is that indica or sativa, or maybe hybrid?

  9. it really depends on the strain. you can find strains that claim one of those three categories but still provide the effects you named. that is the great thing about our mary jane! there are so many varieties and sub species even within the differing gene pools it's amazing! experiment a little, keep reading around, weed is weed, a successfully grown plant will be something to get excited about whether indica, sativa, or hybrid:smoke::smoke:

  10. My fave strain to recommend is G13's Pineapple Express.Shit is easy to grow.Done in 8 weeks. Not hard to get a good cure on it.

My last stuff had nice taste/smell even before jarring. The type of plants that when you go in your room in veg even, and brush up against them it lets off an awesome smell of the killer.Loaded with crystals, and I mean packed with crystals.Bag appeal is off the charts.

I find sometimes you buy so called "good genetics",and they are less amazing then they sounded.Maybe I just get bad Pheno's I dono.I can guarentee you wont be disappointed with these.

ohh,and this is where I get my seeds. There's a bunch of good seed companys out there like Attitude ect.I favor easy to navigate sites.I find attitude's setup a bit confusing, and not in any type of order.

Also I cant say enough about herbies customer service. One time they forgot my freebies.I emailed them, and they sent me out a new batch immediatly without question, and with their appologies.

  11. Blue cheese = A+

  12. I've been wanting a blue strain.I've tried Blue diesel, and its really good. However I have had regular cheese, and love it.

Tell me some of the awesomeness of blue cheese.

Does it stink in flower?A trait a like in my plants.

    Are there any blue/purple phenos?

Does it have that cheese flaver I love?

    thx

  13. I've heard a lot of good things about blue cheese -- which blue cheese do you guys recommend? Barney's? Big Buddha? I'm tempted to try the Big Buddha based on my love for their Cheese.

  14. Blue Cheese is NOTHING like Blue Diesel or Blue Dream as they're both of Sativa strains, go for Barney's Blue Cheese and you'll never go back.
