Trying to grow on a bunch. Please Help.

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by redman1992, Oct 12, 2011.

  1. So I am moving into my apartment in about 3 weeks. I have about 4x4 area to grow in and pay my ight own light bill so I would like to keep it cheap. I have $200 to spend on lights so my question to you guys is: What would be the cheapest and most efficient way to have 2 veg and 2 flower plants and not raise my bill high or spend much on lights. I am also open to micro grows :smoke:

  2. for veg room: 45w CFL 6500k - £10
    23w CFL 2700k - £5
    for bud room: 400w HPS - £100

realised your american, just look on amazon my friend these things are all pretty cheap, and dont look particularly dodgy coming from amazon lol should be enough light for a good perpetual crop going if thats what your after

  3. Thank you very much for the help!

  4. What's up man. I am growing in my apartment in a similar sized area. I don't have all that much experience. But I started out growing (at least vegging) with CFLs but bought myself a 2 foot T5 a while back and have been loving it. The T5, which is just a 4 bulb florescent light definitely out performs the CFLs by far. CFLs work and are really cheap, but they add up when you buy a bunch and a single light has just been easier to work with for me (no disrespect losgirngos).

I have been using one of these for veg...

Which was $90 with free shipping. and if that is to much for you, then you can always get the same model but a 2 bulb rather than a 4 bulb for half the price.

Are you going to be vegging and flowering in the same room? If so then I would definitely recommend getting a 2x4 tent, something small enough to fit in your room nicely but big enough to separate your flowering plants from the vegging ones. Because your flowering plants are not only more delicate but also require true darkness (unlike vegging plants if you have them on 24 hours light).

And if you are flowering in a small area such as a 2x4 tent then I would definitely look into scrog. It just completely maximizes your horizontal space while making your plants a bit more uniformed and easy to maintain/work on. Here is a great link about scrog and it explains all about lighting and what not....

Sog/Scrog Bible. Best guide I have ever read - The Garden's Cure

Definitely a good read, and would recommend the technique for you. Then you can go with a smaller flowering light such as a 250w HPS which will be cheaper to run, less hot, and probably yield about the same if not more if you scrog correctly.

I don't have a 250w but they are pretty cheap, and much cheaper to run then a lot lights haha...

I mean do your reading and figure out what you want to do. I just thought I would mention the scrog idea because you said that you were down with the micro grow. I know somebody who knows more than me is going to come on here and correct everything I told you but I'm just trying to help.

I have just realized that it is better not to go big when you are starting out, don't worry about yield or any of that nonsense at first. Just get your environment set up correctly and with technique (there are a bunch out there) you can keep things smaller and more manageable but still come out with some krypto.

  7. Yo TrichromeOG. those 1000ws are so expensive arent they! I got my power bill and was like what the fuck. Look up the PGE Care Program. I applied and got accepted and my bill is like 100 dollars less a month.
