so i have an anxiety disorder that hasn't exactly been diagnosed yet and i keep going back to the same walk in clinic, and they keep dickin around prescribing me anti-depressants n whatnot that have no recreational value. i recently got prescribed propranolol(inderal) which is an actual anxiety med called a beta blocker, so i think im on the right track. the only thing is it doesnt help me sleep and i kno benzos do. so they know i have anxiety problems, but what can i say to get a benzo in particular?
Tell them that the anti depressants have caused more harm than help by causing mood swings, making you become more depressed, ect. Tell them that you've been having alot of trouble sleeping as well, and that your lack of sleep is creating even more anxiety problems. That should win you atleast some valium, and Xanax if you's lucky!
Its actually a lot easier than you think. Especially if you go to a Psychologist, and let them evaluate you. Many of my friends that have no problems what so ever with anxiety have been able to obtain a script this way. Just gotta find the right doc/Psy that likes to write scripts.
You say you have legit anxiety issues, but in that same paragraph you talk about the clinic only giving you meds that have no recreational value. Your first priority should be getting better, not catching a buzz. Only thing you can do is actually try the meds they give you, and if they aren't working for you after a 2 week trial period, go back, and keep trying until you get what you want.
that sounds like the way, i got a referral to see a psyc just havent gone yet. probably why the doctors aint givin me shit.
Lukas is right. You can't be trying to obtain a prescription to abuse AND be trying to actually help your anxiety issues. Also, abusing benzos is more likely to make your anxiety worse than better; ask some people on this forum who have abused benzos and ask if their anxiety is worse now or before they started taking benzos.
THIS. It's how I got my therapist to convince my psychiatrist to prescribe me benzos.. Tole her my friend gave me "some stick looking pill that started with a 'z' and it made me feel normal and happy and able to function". Long story short, I played the therapist and my psych against each other and came out with the first script of benzos the company/whatever had prescribed to a minor in 7 years. I was on juvenile probation at the time as well. With a little bit of help from wiki and google you can find out exactly what they are looking for and how to tell them or fake it.
Doctors get pissed off about this and question if you are in there to get meds for your friends, it's like hey if this guy willingly takes other people's pills and has friends willing to give him pills, how am I suppose to believe he isn't going to do this with benzos and trade back and forth and abuse? OP: Best bet would be to get in with a psychiatrist, there may be a waiting list.
^^ A psychiatrist will probably be counterproductive at this point (i.e. starting over). As far as the doctor thing goes, if you really seem desperate and aren't just like "yeah doc, I've got anxiety", they bite and go for it. Doctors will always be different but if you come in saying the same shit over and over then they usually have no choice left.
I have anxiety and have been on benzos for about 5 months. Xanax and short half life benzos are not good for actual anxiety in my opinion, they just get you fucked up. The drug that has helped me has been Ativan (lorazepam). I am starting klonopin today, and it seems to work well. If you actually want to manage your anxiety I would recommend a long half life benzo. For general anxiety you will get an anti-depressant, you get benzos for panic attacks for the most part. Do not take benzos not as prescribed regularly. If you do this for a while, you will eventually run out and experience the worst withdrawals of your life, and make your anxiety worse. Benzos can help some people if used as directed despite their generally bad reputation.
That's just not true. Try having a panic attack, xanax is gonna act the fastest and relieve the symptoms the quickest and most effectively. It also has a short half-life so it doesn't impair you for an extended period of time.
Personally xanax makes me go to sleep. I would rather take a long half life benzo to prevent the attack in the first place, while keeping yourself stable throughout the day. Also, abusing your script becomes less likely if you take 1-2 pills per day as scheduled, instead of how docs treat xanax as a take as needed drug. I am not disputing that xanax is a fast acting drug, because it really is.
to op: Abusing benzos for an extended period of time is not a good idea. I know you will most likely need to find this out yourself to believe me.
^^ Abusing them everyday is a bad thing. Abusing them, taking breaks and abusing them again is a whole 'nother story. I've been taking benzos for ~4-5 years now and I still use for a week or two and then quit for weeks without problems, I even take 'em daily sometimes. Benzos themselves aren't bad but reckless use is (just like any other drug).
OP went and got himself banned. Good riddance. The threads about "how do I fool my doctor into giving me X medicine" need to end, seriously. If you have a legitimate medical issue that can be aided with the legitimate use of some drug, then by all means take the doctor's advice, and don't stop searching for a med until you get something that helps. If you have a legitimate medical issue that can be aided with the legitimate use of some drug, but you're not willing to search for that drug because it falls into the category of things "not recreational," well, you shouldn't be doing drugs, period. Scamming doctors hurts us all in the long run. There are people in the world with panic disorder that CANNOT be prescribed benzos (the only class of drug that actually help with panic disorder) because of lying teenagers/drug addicts looking to get a cheap, monthly recurring high. It not only sets up stumbling blocks for those that really do need these drugs, but it is also immoral, IMHO. So just stop. Get your illegal drugs like everybody else: on the street. If you have an anxiety issue that can be treated with SSRIs or many of the other tricyclics out there, and you actually have a desire for treatment, then honestly try whatever your doctor or psychiatrist prescribes to you. If it doesn't work, communicate that with him/her, and try again, until you find something that does work. The internal drive for a better life should ALWAYS trump the biological drive to get fucked up. Period.
Thank you sir, and thank you for the +rep earlier. I just see people like the OP in my profession everyday. It's incredibly simple to gauge who is lying to try to get a script though. Memorizing the symptoms of a psychiatric disorder from Wikipedia, or the DSM-IV, and then spitting them out is a lot different than actually vocalizing an internal conflict.
