So I don't have a great deal of money (My budget is around £50 to £100) and I'm trying to find the strongest bong that I can possibly get as I will be taking it out and about a lot. I have a couple bongs which have peaked my interest This and This but I have no idea of the kind of quality of the glass. I would really appreciate any kind of help in finding a strong bong that will stand the test of time... This is also only my 2nd bong and baring in mind the first one that I got was a cheap Chinese 2mm bong that smashed within a week, I have no real idea how much a half decent bong can take before breaking. Any info/tips on looking for the right bong to get would be appreciated. Also if anyone has found/bought some hard as nails bongs in the past that they can find a link to, I would love to see them
Is a 9mm piece pretty much guaranteed to be stronger than lets say a 5mm Roor? I know that Roors are far more expensive but I was wondering if the quality of the glass has that much of an effect on the strength. Also, does it matter if a piece isn't borosilicate glass as one of the bongs that I am looking at (the first one) doesn't mention it being borosilicate.
9mm piece should be stronger, but if it was made in china it likely lacks quality as they will use cheaper materials. Boro is a type of pyrex, that's about all I know.
Thanks man, these bongs looks sick! Plus they are only a tiny bit more expensive than the ones I was looking at, but I can be rest assured that it's going to be some quality glass.
Let us know when it breaks. I want you to post about how you spent 100 pounds on it and in 1 second....it's gone forever...
what about an acrylic? sure its not as fancy as glass, but you can throwit around, to the windows the to waaaaall, will be ok.
boro glass is tough glass its heat resistant and can withstand a few knocks and bumps but its still glass, so it can and will break if not looked after correctly. Anything 5mm and above should be good as long as you get it from a good manufacturer and you're careful with it, it should be fine though avoid putting it somewhere its likely to be knocked over or where it could fall. I recommend that you also get a padded bong case if you're planning on traveling with it.
The owner of my favorite head shop showed me 9mm 12" bong when I first went it. He offered it to me for $90. But I said no and went with a 7mm 18" HiSi. Idk why it just called to me more. But if my HiSi ever breaks, I'm definitely going back for that 9mm. He even banged it on the display case to show me how durable it was. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Would you use a personal "metal" bong? Not really a fan of metal myself but made a trade for a nice one and i have links to the same piece on gc. Heres the original version you can buy cheap http://www.grasscity.com/us_en/metal-pipe-with-stash-room.html And heres the one I made by combining the one above, with a pipe my friend gave me before he died of cancer. I added some rubber grommets, changed the bowl, and switched the heads. Hits better, hold enough water to bubble, fits in the pocket, doesnt spill unless its knocked over for a few seconds, wont break, and can be emptied and used as a stash jar too. Also endlessly customizable. Parts available at most hardware stores. Has a tiny downstem under the bowl. Ive seen them made as long as 3 feet haha, pretty cool But i still prefer glass.
acryllic bongs are cheap as hell u can get one at a local smoke shop for around 20$, or if u wanna spend around 50-100$ u can get a nice thick glassed bong
In the end i've decided that I'm going to get this piece with this downpipe and this cone. I know that acrylic is better strength wise, but I forgot to mention in my original post that I simply don't like acrylic bongs for their cheap looks. I know that black leaf isn't the greatest quality glass but it's cheap, offers some good functionality, and I think will looks great with the clear bong. Thanks everyone for the input ( especially IFourTwenty for the link to the great site). And thanks pokesmot247 for showing me the metal bong, I haven't actually seen one like that before and I might consider one later on down the line to combine with my own metal pipe for that quick portable smoke here and there. Toke on!
Damn 9mm thickness..I'm thinking that unless you drop it directly on concrete, you will probably have that bong for the rest of your life. Edit: I do have to give you advice on one thing though..instead of buying the bowl and downstem from different sites, you should buy them both from the same site so you don't have to pay shipping twice..just a thought ioffer has colored showerhead downstems too for like 12-15 bucks..just type showerhead downstem 18mm 6.0 (for 6 inches). I personally own a black one and it's beautiful, especially for that price.
I have a Jet and I love it. I bought it after I broke my first 200 dollar piece. Broke my heart. Now I don't have to worry about breakage and it rips like a tiger.
I have no way to prove that our bongs are the strongest and cheapest, but I can say it is the most competitive...contact me...
