Trouble finding good jobs that don’t have DT

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by morbazon420, Jan 3, 2007.

  1. hey was up gc
well to start I have smoked since I was 15 :smoking: I am now 20. when I was 15 I worked at MCdonalds and there was no problem toking up since then I have have worked at many jobs that sucked like fast food factorys and such but they did not have dt . now I find myself fired from my mechanic postion  for a random dt .anyway what good jobs are there that don't have drug tests thanks

  2. I do food deliveries which is pretty straight if ur looking for something simple. Go check around at your town's pizza places and stuff.

    And Welcome to the City!

  3. Are you looking for a career type of job or a $7.50 and hour job?

  4. a career type job

  5. well, how much are you looking to make? i know people that wait tables at steakhouses, and they do pretty well, generally 200+ a night, but most of them do require 2+ years experience. if you can manage, any papas restaurant will look good when you try to go to a nice steakhouse, cause at least around here, fine dining restaurants look really favorably on papas training program. i've also got some friends in industrial sales that toke regularly. i do think they had an initial dt though. Time Warner only has 1 DT, when you get hired. maybe these are options for you? I wait tables at a low-priced mexican place, and THAT is not career money, but if you can get to a place that's at least 15 bucks a meal, you can do alright, at least 7-800 a week. hourly pay sucks ass though, 2.13.

  6. Im a bit older than you are so I'll tell you what I've come to notice. All of the CEO's, presidents, managers, blah blah blah in any company dont take drug tests. For the most part the only people who get tested are the blue collar types. White collars are looked on more favorably and respectively so they, for the most part, dont get bothered. I have friends who work for big companies doing outside sales, make tons of cash and dont get tested, I on the other hand work for a big company doing more "manual" type labor make tons of cash, and got tested before hire. So thats my theory, if you want a good paying carrer w/no tests (mostly) go to school, get a white collar position and enjoy your double life!!!:D

  7. I'm a mechanic and the company I work for is a family owned business. They are not a part of a large corporation or anything with shops all across the country. They do not DT and the owner has admitted to blazin in the past so they do not bother with it as long as i don't come to work to stoned. I would suggest looking for a place that is a family owned business, rather than a company that is part of something much larger and requires DT.

Oh, and make sure the company has been in business a while so you know that they will only grow so your job will be secure. 2007 marks my company's 26th aniversary and we are only getting bigger so I'm good :hello:

    Good Luck

  8. generally, companies will test at hire, and say they have a random test policy. however, they will only test you if you show up to work fucking destroyed.

  9. while on the topic... i'm going to school to be a pharmacist and recently my nephew told me that you can lose your license over a drug charge. i hadn't heard of anything like that before.. can anyone clarify?

  10. if you fail a drug test i dont think that the company will send your results to the pigs and you will probably only lose your license if you were cought with weed in your car or you were stoned while driving

as to the person who made the topic, do what somebody above me said, go to a family owned reastruant and you should be good i hope i could help.

  11. I'm a pc tech/networking guy for a living so most of my jobs have been at computer stores doing service work, or an IT person/Help Desk position for small companies with good sized networks in their offices. Recently I got an IT position at a printing firm that handles document processing for high profile clients. They have alot of work stations and servers here to hold all the scans and to do image editing on so I'm pretty much fixing computers, slacking at my desk, and installing printer drivers for hot little office chicks.

If you get anything largely corporate, you'll be drug tested. I turned down an IT position at Ohio Savings Bank for that reason. This includes banks, fast food chains, department store chains, and stuff like that.

  12. hey man that about sounds like the job for me...how much u get payed? and what kind of schooling. I can pretty much fix anything hardware wize on a comp and am pretty good W/ software I guess. Btw my dad works at the county yards and dozes county roads and shit and he told me he would smoke but if he gets into any sort of accident he gets shipped to a city about a half hr away and gets DTed.

  13. You have to be willing to make sacrifices in life.. Sounds like you have a lot to learn about life in general.

  14. I've had 4 years experience at a computer shop under my belt, and I am currently attending ITT Tech for CNS (Computer Networking Systems). Its a 2-4 year course depending on what kind of education you want to recieve. It is also year round with breaks on holidays.

  15. I got very lucky, I am an IT guy also. First company I worked for did not DT, it was a smaller 3 person owned company...if they did DT they would have lost about %75 of the employees though.
I now work for ...hold you breath here, the public education system in my town! I needed an FBI backround search done, which I had to pay for, but NO DT! None, nothing...yes this is a white collar job, and as mentioned I do believe these types of jobs, people just assume certain things about you. Well, let them all assume anything they want. I live the double life, and wouldn't change for the world!

  16. hey ive been delivering pizzas for 2 years and its great, most of the time that type of job doesnt even mind u toking while ur on the job. its a little stressful sometimes when theres a lot of deliveris and u have to coordinate like 5 differnt deliveries on 1 run. but they def dont drug test, and depending on how busy ur pizza place is u could make like $8-20 an hour

  17. You're absolutely correct. I'm also in agreement with the poster who implied that one must make sacrifices in life. Sometimes smoking simply isn't possible, but choosing not to smoke makes the next bowl only that much sweeter.

As for the future, I've already graduated from a great school, worked in politics, spent a year as a volunteer, and taught for a year. Hopefully, I'm on my way to law school next fall. The only way to ensure that you won't be drug-tested by your employer is to be self-employed, which is my plan in the long-term. Law degrees are extremely useful, but one must be extremely careful not to be charged with a crime of any sort. Such a violation is grounds for being disbarred. To the poster who asked about the possibility that a pharmacist's license would be revoked if he was charged with a drug-related crime, I'm almost certain that it varies from state to state, but I'm also quite sure that this is the case in the state in which I live. If you think about it, though, pharmacists must be held to a higher standard as far as knowledge of drugs and the laws surrounding them are concerned. If you're extremely careful at all times, I think you'll be fine. If something happens in the short-term, though, be sure to get a lawyer. You wouldn't want to ruin your chances of becoming a pharmacist by dropping a drug conviction on your record before you even have a chance to attempt to pursue your goals, would you?

  18. Starbucks dude, starbucks. Its very easy to move up, i know people who are store managers and they got their in like one year. Its a great job, you get to meet and talk to some cool people, and you get a free pound of coffee a week. I dono, i'm 20 and in school but starbucks does fuckin' rule. Sorry bout the rant, very burnt.

  19. yeh, i want to get a job with starbucks. they pay minimum wage (+tips) which kinda sucks but they provide health insurance and have 401k and stock options after you work their for a while. and like goalielax17 says, they seem to have good advancement opportunities, so I don't know. For a temp or long term job, starbucks seems like a good choice. not to mention the work isn't THAT hard.
