Trippy Movies?

  1. I've seen quite a bit of trippy shit on YouTube. V

    Rubber Johnny

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3far9oHZOsI]YouTube - Rubber Johnny[/ame]

  2. I'd like to add the titles Across the Universe, Sin City and Dude Where's My Car. I know Dude Where's My Car is another comedy but it is pretty trippy.

    I would also say Coraline if they had made the movie right. The movie was made much too childish in comparison to the book. And if anyone enjoys reading while stoned or just reading in general I strongly suggest Coraline and anything else written by Neil Gaiman.

  3. I started collecting movies like these a while back so here are some of my favorites and I with some I found trailers on youtube:

    1) Cannibal Holocaust:

    One of the most controversial films ever made. Documentary style with a much larger meaning behind then just that which is presented.

    2) Gummo

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35Hg8bIFu-A]YouTube - gummo trailer[/ame]

    3)Phantasm

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKTs3I68cEA]YouTube - Phantasm Trailer[/ame]

    4)Koyaanisqatsi

    Trippy in its own way but, far more visually stunning than anything else if you that art can uncover an inexpressible truth, than check this one out.

    5) The Andromeda Strain

    You really just have to give this one a chance. This was one of those movies that at first I was real hesitant to watching but, I'm glad I did because it really is one of those movies you really enjoy watching

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qEsqjJAY-k]YouTube - The Andromeda Strain 1971 original film trailer[/ame]

    6)Pi

    This movie with the rest makes more sense than anything...you'll understand after you watch it

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQ1sZSCz47w]YouTube - Pi movie trailer[/ame]

    7) microcosmos

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOe2mmnPv5Q]YouTube - MICROCOSMOS - TRAILER[/ame]

    thats just a variety within the category but, I have a grip more of movies that are just as equally trippy so if you enjoy those just message me if you want more titles

    I'm sure its been mentioned, but in case it hasn't waking life, requiem for a dream, bang bang your dead.

  6. Nothing is more trippy than ........ House of 1000 Dead Corpses

  7. Meh I didn't find Phantasm that trippy, the ending got kinda weird but up until then it just seemed like an average '70s horror film. All of those others seem pretty crazy though. I haven't seen Pi yet but it's on it's way in the mail I am really excited because I have heard nothing but good things about that movie.

  8. Hey guys I got a list of other movies for all you to check out. Again I tried to have a wide variety within the category "trippy" enjoy.

    Fuck Yea dude El Topo & Montaña Sagrada are directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky a great chilean director, Montaña Sagrada (holy mountain) is really trippy, but the time I watched it on shrooms I found it kinda disturbing. Then again, I wouldn't watch Natural Born killers on shrooms either.

  11. Yeah trippy movies for me are usually the ones that really show life from every point of view even the disturbing nature is something we have to (as fucked up as it is) realize that these kinds of events really do take place. There are a lot of great movies out there that are so realisitic and br00tal that nobody knows about because they get banned....fortunately for us there are always people visiting foreign countrys that discover these movies and post them on the net :D

  12. dunno if anybody has said this or not but 2001 a space odessy is pretty fucking trippy once you get past the boringness.

  13. Yeah I find that the best trippy movies are the ones that actually make me think about something and give me something to dwell on. Whether it be philosophical (Waking Life, Donnie Darko, A Scanner Darkly, etc.) or realism (El Topo, The Holy Mountain, The Butterfly Effect, etc.) Not so much the fantasy or sci-fi schematic of trippy movies, but having all three or even just two of the three makes the best trippy films.

    If you really want something to think about I suggest What the Bleep Do We Know!? and What the Bleep: Down the Rabbit Hole. They're not particularly trippy but they will make you think of things differently.

  14. That's why the man gave us chapter selection!:yay:

  15. Mind you, I may be as high as I've ever been before but...

    Surrogates > The Matrix

    trust.

  16. Wait by that you mean that Surrogates is better than the Matrix or did the '>' just serve as an arrow? I haven't seen Surrogates yet but from the trailer I have reason to believe that it won't be better than The Matrix.

    To everyone that likes this thread. You should check out my polls I made a couple to coincide with this thread they have most of the movies listed on this thread and I really want to get an idea of which trippy movies are the VERY best. Please check them out and submit your answers.

    Best Trippy Movie Poll:
    http://forum.grasscity.com/movies/470514-best-trippy-movie-poll.html

    I want to maybe even go on and make a Best Trippy Movie Poll 3.0. Maybe even gather the best results of all three polls after maybe a month of the 3.0 is realeased and make a Best Trippy Movie Poll 1.2.3 get the top 20 trippy movies of all time. Remember to add any suggestions to those threads so I can crank out another poll. Thank you :D

  19. dont know whether its already been said...but i sort of remember parts from the big lebouski (if thts how to spell it lol)..when i was really stoned off space brownies...and thinking 'what the fuck' hahaha! well good

  20. For some reason, american beauty strikes me in just the right way every time I watch it blazed. For trippy, I'd suggest watching the Woodstock 1969 concert DVD. Far out man.
